Mayock's top 5 CB's in draft

wow they changed 4 players over th ecorse of a month

Now you're just being ridiculous... I listed five players, OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, that I knew had seen their rankings change radically in the last week or so... there were many others whose rankings changed...

And FWIW, that's at least the third revision of their rankings in the last month... don't know how many updates you expect this early in the proces... their rankings will change again in the next week or so, after the Senior Bowl practices, then they'll change again after the combine... and once the Pro Day workouts get under way, their rankings will change 2-3 times per week...

You simply won't find a draft website that updates their rankings more frequently than NFLDS does... I know because I've checked them all out, and not just this year...

You don't know what you're talking about, you'd be wise to walk away from this argument, because you're just as wrong as you can be...

There are still players that have 2nd round grades on all other sites and they still have them as a 4th or 5th. Derek Wolfe for example.

Gee, you don't reckon that maybe they don't AGREE with those other sites, do ya?? For my money, NFLDS is the single best draft website out there; it gives you the largest number of players ranked, it updates their rankings more often, and from observation over the past few years, they do less of pumping up their favorites than other sites do...

I wonder how many times Kirkpatrick was ever really even tested playing in that defense. I worry how you can even have enough film to evaluate him. Reminds me of the 2002-2003 Miami Hurricanes defense where the collective unit looked so good it caused people to overvalue the individual parts and Jerome McDougal, Phillip Buchannan and William Joseph got drafted in the first round.

do work for them or something, your getting very uptight about this.

Look I look at the players I like and I haven't seen much change for a while. You seen some on players I really haven't been looking for.

All I was saying is CBS sports don't update all the players every day or every week so don't judge a guy off of those rankings just yet.

That's an excellent point. Certainly have to question the individual ability of these Alabama guys...

I think Mayock is the best evaluator between himself and the ESPN crowd. Mayock's track record with DB's is pretty good. I remember him being the only person who said Brandon Flowers could play and he's been quite good for the Chiefs.

I get annoyed any time I read something in here that I know is wrong... so let's refresh the course of our little argument, shall we??

You started out by saying:

Scouts Inc is alot like CBSSports. they take for every (sic) to update their rankings.

Well, I know that to be a crock of crap, I've been using their website for years now... so I responded:

Actually, the folks at NFL Draft Scout (the source that CBS Sports' website uses) update their rankings quite often... they've done so twice in the last two weeks... in the final days before the draft, those rankings will change almost daily...

As a matter of fact, there are two reasons why I like NFL Draft Scout better than any other website I've found-- they rate more players, over 1000 of them, and they update their rankings with some regularity... the farther the offseason draft workouts go, the more often the updates will come...

I know this from some years of using their rankings, so I know that you're talkin' out your anal orifice when you knock them for not updating often enough to suit you... I suspect that you think a website like this is supposed to update their rankings once or twice a week, and I challenge you to find one that does so...

Note that the quote above was my entire response, I said nothing insulting to you... all I did was state the facts, including that they updated their site in the last few days... this is why I have an all-new spreadsheet replacing the one I had made some weeks back...

And your response to mine was:

No they may change one player rankings or say they are updated but I have been watching players on their sites for a while and no one has changed.

YOU were the one who claimed that they "might" change ONE player's ranking, at which point I named FIVE players whose rankings had changed in the last few days; clearly at that point, I had completely rebutted your specious assertions... but rather than give it a rest, or God forbid, admit that you were wrong, you sneered at how few examples I offered...

Well, given that YOU made the claim of one player ranking changing, all I had to do was provide two that had changed to rebut that assertion...

I offered five... and trust me, there are a lot more examples, dozens of them, that I could give you, if I cared to... for example, a month ago they didn't have ANY of the underclassmen rated, they don't include them until they do declare... and so, they have in the last month added some sixty-five players to their rankings...

So, is sixty five revised rankings enough to demonstrate how completely WRONG you are??

Bottom line, you clearly don't follow NFL Draft Scout closely at all... if you did, you'd know that you're talkin' crap...

Look I look at the players I like and I haven't seen much change for a while. You seen some on players I really haven't been looking for.

Then you're not really qualified to make that assertion, are you??

All I was saying is CBS sports don't update all the players every day or every week so don't judge a guy off of those rankings just yet.

1) NOBODY updates their player rankings every day, or even every week (this early in the offseason process)...

2) The only right thing you've said in this argument is that we can't judge a guy off of player rankings YET... but those rankings are the only clue we have right now as to where a player might go...

Me too. I also like Jamel Fleming from OU. I'd rather have them in the 3rd or 4th than Kirkpatrick in the 1st. Still think 1st and 2nd rd pick go to improving this pass rush. I'd grab a down lineman and the best pure pass rusher available.

N. Alabama CB J. Jenkins displayed top notch athleticism in practice. He showed very quick feet, loose hips & explosive closing ability.

cb class is deep this year. i'd pass on a cb in round one because should be able to get a quality one in the 2-3 range.

DeCastro, Ingram or Upshaw in the 1st, Jenkins, Boykin or Minnifield in the 2nd!

I'm interested in Stephon Gilmore (South Carolina) and Josh Norman (Coastal Carolina).

If the Cowboys like Dre Kirkpatrick, they will probably like these two players.

Not real high on Gilmore although I suspect he will go rather high. He can make some plays and disappear at other times. He's an athlete though. His numbers will help him more than his film.
