Mayock's top 5 CB's in draft

I would take Mayocks track record. you'll see a lot of prospects rise and fall now that the real NFL scouts are at the bowl games and the combine. Last year at this time most draft sites were saying it was a poor year for OT's. Not a one worth takeing in the 1st round much less the #9 pick.

I don't know anything about Johnson, but the only CB in this draft I'd select at #14 is Claiborne. I'm really pulling for Kirkpatrick to kill the combine and go top ten.

SC8: Looks like you're gonna be right about Minnifield. His first round hopes are gonna depend on the combine in a big way. After watching him all season, I thought for sure he'd be getting first-round buzz. I just hope the injury that kept him out of the PEACH Bowl is healed before February rolls around. I think the guy is a hell of a player and is being underrated by everyone.

Mayock LOVED Arkin last year. Here's hoping he's as accurate as some of you think he is.

If Mayock says it.. you should listen. Guy knows his stuff and i would trust him over any other draft guy out there.

I agree with the first 3 in terms of pure CB skill. Dre Kirkpatrick is an intriguing prospect because of his size and tackling ability, but there are much better cover prospects in the draft. Leonard Johnson is okay. I wouldn't put him in the top 5, but I think his skill set is good enough for consideration inside rounds 2 & 3, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a quality starter in the future.

Leonard Johnson is solid...I'd be happy with him in the 3rd round. Earlier though...nope!

RUSSLANDE Russell Lande

Georgia CB Boykin was outstanding today. Displayed elite athleticism, explosive closing ability and natural ball skills to break up passes.

#Nebraska CB Alfonzo Dennard had a tough time turning and running with receivers, didn't have a burst or 2nd gear, 4.6 guy? #seniorbowl

No, not even close to a 4.6 guy.

I had the numbers from spring testing last year at Nebraska, and I do remember Alfonzo being a low 4.4 guy. I also remember him having a recorded 42'-43' inch vertical as well.

Do not remember all the numbers off the top of my head, though. Kinda wish I had them now.

I think he is going to be a very good corner. I like kirkpatrick but think its a reach at 14, if he is gone i think we should grab someone for OL, DE, or OLB and get boykin in 2nd. Would make a difference in two rounds right off.

Mayock is my guru on all things DB, so I'll roll with his list over the rest of the draft heads.

Scouts Inc is alot like CBSSports. they take for every to update their rankings.

Actually, the folks at NFL Draft Scout (the source that CBS Sports' website uses) update their rankings quite often... they've done so twice in the last two weeks... in the final days before the draft, those rankings will change almost daily...

I for one hope he stays underrated, so that the Boys can draft him at pick 45...

No they may change one player rankings or say they are updated but I have been watching players on their sites for a while and no one has changed.

Johnson is one of the few CBs to slow down Blackmon. He is a very good DB, plays a physical style, but also has some speed to his game.

He is one of my under the radar picks.

This is no suprise to me. The difference between Kirkpatrick and Jenkins is pretty big. The only reason there is a debate is because of Jenkins off the field stuff, but his on the field track record speaks for himself. I like him coming out more than I liked Joe Haden who I really liked and has flourished. IMO Janoris would be immediately be our best corner. He's already matched up against the young elite wr's like Julio Jones and AJ Green and held them well under there averages.

CB Jenkins begins easing concerns
Todd McShay
Scouts Inc.

The other part of the week for Jenkins -- perhaps the more important part -- is how he handles himself during interviews with teams. He has to get them comfortable with his maturity and decision-making after drug-related incidents led to his dismissal at Florida. Now that he's answering questions about his overall skill set, that interview process could very well determine whether Jenkins has a chance to remain in the late-first-round mix or sees his stock plummet as far as the end of Day 2.

It's not the entire article ( very favorable towards Jenkins ) but I think it's the most important part.

You're not paying close enough attention... in this most recent revising of the rankings, Levy Adcock, the OT from Oklahoma State, has dropped from a 2nd or 3rd round prospect to a 7th rounder on their board... Chase Minnifield, the CB from Virginia, was at one time rated in the low 20s by them, now he's 45th... Akiem Hicks, the mammoth defensive lineman from Canada, has come from way out in left field to a solid 6th round grade at this point... NTs Hebron Fangupo from BYU and Nicolas Jean-Baptiste from Baylor have gone from undrafted rookie free agent grades in the 300-400 range to a 5th round grade for Fangupo (142nd overall), and a 7th round grade for Jean-Baptiste (244th)...

Those are just a few players whose rankings have changed dramatically in the last week, off the top of my head...

I've been a fan of that sight for some years now (well, actually I'm a fan of NFL Draft Scout, which is the source for CBS' ratings), and one of the things I've liked best about them is the frequency with which they update their rankings, once the college season begins... they do it more often than anybody else that I've found does...

I'm interested in Stephon Gilmore (South Carolina) and Josh Norman (Coastal Carolina).

If the Cowboys like Dre Kirkpatrick, they will probably like these two players.

Don't care what your straight line speed is.. if you can't turn and run with guys, you can't be an effective CB in the NFL.

wow they changed 4 players over th ecorse of a month, thats not what i call updates, sorry but I need to see more. I like the sites, I go to them but I don't think they update the rankings enough. There are still players that have 2nd round grades on all other sites and they still have them as a 4th or 5th. Derek Wolfe for example.
