Mayweather vs Ortiz

What does it matter how many times he hugged him? He looked like a fool trying to hug him and kiss him all day but that doesn't change the fact that he was hit just as he was stepping back from his last apology.

Whether or not all the euphemisms in the world say he should have been ready to resume, the fact of the matter is he wasn't and Floyd hit him with a cheap shot. The dude wasn't ready and the ref wasn't ready.

It goes down as a win and is well within the rules but by any rational person's standards, including the entire HBO staff's, it was a cheap shot.

HA! So it's Floyd's fault that they weren't ready to fight? Okay.........

So if Dallas' Oline isn't ready to protect Romo, the defense should not try to tackle him? haha

Take for instance the Browns game last week. Browns were in their huddle yet and the Bengals threw a TD to AJ Green. A GAME WINNING TD NONETHELESS. I dont hear anyone saying that is a cheap shot????

Didn't have a problem with the KO. But I thought the interview was low class.

Most likely just a setup for more money and interest.

this was some comedy. dont launch into headbutts, kiss your opponents, keep your hands up in a boxing ring, and you wont get knocked out! keys to victory!

Cortez looks like he's in a heroin stupor throughout the whole thing.

I have no problem with Mayweather's cheap shot. He ended the fight before Ortiz had a chance to headbutt him again.

2 for 2 on videos with excessive swearing......nicely done.

You ask for a link to the fight and then harp on the quality - nicely done.

Good point

Mayweather may have been within the rules when he knocked him out but that was a really classless act. It wouldn't surprise me if the media doesn't blast him for this - and they probably should because he's better than that.

Having said this, the guy only seconds before did launch his rather large coconut at the chin of the aforementioned. That's kind of a hard thing to overlook when you have rage in your eyes.

I wasn't harping, just letting ya know. Didn't know if you had watched them before posting or not.

I agree with this.

Floyd is a punk and will continue to duck Pac.

That's how i see it as well. If that fight goes a few more rounds Ortiz gets knocked out anyway.

No, not Floyd's fault at all for the other guy apologizing. It's his fault for hitting him when the guy was backing away from apologizing.

Your analogy is a little off. I'd say this is closer to laying a guy out away from the play who isn't expecting to be hit at that moment. Something that the NFL flags and fines for.

Take for instance the Browns game last week. Browns were in their huddle yet and the Bengals threw a TD to AJ Green. A GAME WINNING TD NONETHELESS. I dont hear anyone saying that is a cheap shot????

Probably because it's not customary for offenses to wait for the defense to be set.

When someone takes a cheap shot or gets hit with a low blow (especially in MMA), both guys shake hands, an apology is given and then they separate and resume.

And if you not hearing anything about the Bengals TD being a cheap shot and plenty about Mayweather's punch being a cheap shot, what does that say?

The fact Ortiz meant to thrust his head into Mayweather's face is really bush league. What Mayweather did is not something you would fine him for, but Ortiz should get one for that b.s.

This fight was a joke since day 1. Both fighters are a disgrace

Hope nobody wasted their money on this.

Pacman only boxer worth paying for

When the referee tells you to resume fighting and your opponent walks up to you with his hands up, you can't stand there trying to hug and kiss with your hands at your side. Floyd has no obligation to hold hands with Ortiz in the middle of the ring for a half hour. The cardinal rule of boxing is protect yourself at all times. Ortiz has nobody to blame but himself.

this always helps boxing threads

If anyone in here thinks that's a cheap shot, you've never boxed.

Defend yourself until the final bell. That's like a law of being a boxer. Ortiz got what he deserved for letting his guard down.
