If anyone in here thinks that's a cheap shot, you've never boxed.

Defend yourself until the final bell. That's like a law of being a boxer. Ortiz got what he deserved for letting his guard down.

Exactly. I watched it again, and the ref waived the fighters in at least 3 seconds before the punch was thrown. They touched gloves and Ortiz still had his hands down while backing up and looking at the ref. That's on Ortiz to get his hands up to protect himself.

I used to love boxing but it really took a backseat to MMA when I really got in to watching that.

No cheap shot. Just a brainfart from one of the fighters and the other guy took advantage of it.

Ortiz just got his butt knocked the blank out, ala Smoky from the movie Friday.

Mayweather punches was not illegal, they were not cheap shots, he had already half hugged with Ortiz, and Ortiz tried to further humiliate him by trying to kiss him, the ref wave them to continue they touched gloves and he got KOd, simple and clean as that.

Now if you really want to analyze the fight, Ortiz wanted a way to quit like he did once before, he knew from the jump he was not going to beat Floyd, and it was really confirmed within in minutes of the first round, so he started head butting so he could get DQd, but he got KOd first.

Floyd is still the best 42-0, pund for pound.

What a cheap shot by Mayweather. He has no clue about sportsmanship or class. Why, in the world did Mayweather want to assualt Larry Merchent after the fight? I cant believe i wasted 50 bones on this crap. Im done with boxing, UFC is ran so much better.

They have history. Merchant is well known for dissing Mayweather. Some deservedly.

Both guys should be ashamed of themselves. Unreal. Death of boxing. I feel sorry for boxing fans.

Ortiz was wrong.
He was wrong for overapologizing. (the hug and kiss because he knew he muffed up)
He was wrong for letting his guard down.
He was wrong for looking at ref after first shot.

Looked to me like Ortiz was trying to lunge his head into Mayweather's face throughout the round. Then he succeeded, and it really pissed off Mayweather, who retaliated with his own cheap shot. The thing is, Ortiz should have noticed how enflamed Mayweather was and been looking out for it.

Oh, I didnt see except that one time. I thought what they heck?
I think he just too excited and got stupid.

I thought this was worse than what this till i saw it. How long was he supposed to wait for the guy to put his hands up? He stuck his hands out, waited and went in to hug him, and started backing up with his hands down.

I mean come on. The guy had plenty of time to get his hands up and get ready.

I'm no fan of either guy, and boxing has long been dead to me, but I don't get all this out cry about Mayweather here.

Correct. After watching it multiple times, about four seconds went by from when the ref waived the fighters on, so what was Mayweather supposed to do when the fighter still has his hands down after touching gloves? I think this has more to do with the hatred of Mayweather than anything. If it was Mayweather that did the headbutting and got knocked out, people would say he got what he deserves.
