The fight is a huge event, but I don't think it will have a single bit of effect on the draft. Not even in the same ballpark.

The media coverage all of this week has been dominated by the fight. I was watching Mike and Mike this morning and even Mike Greenberg noticed that the draft wasn't getting the attention it normally gets.

ESPN has opened sport center all of this week talking about the fight and the Baltimore riots affecting the Orioles games before they even get to the draft coverage. Sure ESPN has shows geared to the draft but it's definitely not dominating the news cycle like it normally does around this time.

ESPN has to follow the story...it's the biggest event in boxing and there really isn't much in the way of other premier boxing events on the horizon. Doesn't mean that the rest of the world gives a rip. I am sure that the draft will have more viewers overall than they did a year ago when there was no fight. So tell me again how the draft will be affected?

the number of NFL fans vs the number of boxing fans= only a moron would think this is even close.

I'd pay it in a second.

You have to be brain dead to think that fight is bigger than the NFL draft. The NFL is the King of all sports in this country. That fight isn't even on the radar.

I wish they had never split it up the way that they did (from a selfish, I want all the rounds now standpoint), but the NFL knows it has an audience. I remember reading somewhere that it outdraws actual games for other sports.

I doubt that. The draft would lose viewers after the first 3 picks.

Maybe after the first round, but certainly not after the first three picks.

Yeah, I realize it's beneficial to the NFL to have it the way they do now. I just prefer the old set up.

BTW, its Draft day. Rise and shine.
