I’m not defending anyone or saying anyone is anything….but sometimes it DOES take guys time to develop into actual players.

Just in time to be a free agent.
So you're saying it took some years before Osa could develop into this current form of a couple of sacks in a year and a half as a starting 3 tech?

Let this be a lesson for us all. Good things come to those who are patient.

My friend, if you read my first sentence you’ll understand that I’m not referencing anyone in particular.

If I’m saying anything at all, it’s that I believe that there are players in the league whose best ball is ahead of them when their rookie deal expires.

Not everyone is a great player immediately, nor is a full bust if they don’t.

To use this as somehow evidence for this lesson of being patient with players is laughable. Osa has been one of the worst starting 3 techs the last two seasons. 2 sacks. 26 games. 27 if you count the playoff game. That's pathetic.

What are you saying? That we should be more patient or we risk losing Mazi Smiths and Osa Whoseyourmommas? WGAS.

Maybe, just maybe the lights are coming on ( lol ). Seriously, I'm happy for him.......hope he can keep it up. Fans have been tough on him, mostly NOT deserved.
Fixed it for you.

It’s a 6M cap hit to post June 1 cut him next Spring.

so..he likely gets a roster spot.

Mazi is gonna get another season. Let’s be real this FO probably won’t even try to replace him this offseason. lol

I think you’re reading much more into it than was my point.

I’m just saying that sometimes, in general, it takes time. I didn’t say that was the case with anyone in particular and thought I made that clear.

You looking to fight today or something? I can bait you with some Jerry stuff if you like.

Mazi is a bust.

2024 pff grade is 35
I tend to agree.
He had a nice game, I give him credit for that.I hope he starts to click.
But at best, he is a rotational 1 tech. We need another true 1 tech to platoon with him for this to work, and for a first round pick, that's a bust.
Most organizations find rotational 1 techs on Day 3, or on the scap heap (like Hankins).
To invest a Round 1 pick for this return meets the definition of a bust.

Mazi isn't a bust, he is just barely getting started.

it doesent and shouldnt take multiple seasons to see if a player has IT. and he does not have it..but jerry will hold on to him and probably give him an extension cause well know he hates being wrong about players.
Yes it does literally it's called development it's called giving a guy a chance to at least find a role in a niche in this league there are plenty of players like him starting on other teams in a rotation sure he's not a elite starter he's not even a full time starter they rotate out into your defensive tackles all the time especially nose tackles

I guess.

hes a 1st round pick though.

his pff and pro football ref grades stink.

and his GTD money next season prevents Dallas from cutting him.

yall can wait around for 3 more years for mazi to make a decent rotational player at best (cause i think thats all he'll ever be) but if im in the FO and im serious about fixing this **** show, im pounding the table for a DT as soon as i can (assuming one worth picking is available when we pick). This organization has pushed that position to the backburner for a decade plus and look where its gotten us...i dont consider trysten hill and mazi legitimate selections either...

and maybe we just legitimately suck at evaluating and drafting that position.....but if thats the case it needs to change like TOMORROW.
