I’m not counting Mazi out. Like it or not.. DT typically take time to develop. I know, not what you want to hear from a 1st Rd pick, which is exactly why Dallas has avoided DTs in that round.

Give the man a 2nd chance for gods sake. He played undersized last year and honestly out of his element under Dan Quinn. Now he’s put the weight back on, has some help in the trenches, and finally has a coach the actually emphasizes his position.

On the other hand, if he doesn’t take that 2nd year jump w/ all the advantages I just mention.. well then, I’ll start talking bust myself. Parcells said if a player didn’t catch on by year 3.. he prob wasn’t ever going to

Broaddus is an idiot. He hates Mazi for some reason. This is exactly why he is not a scout anymore.
People will be wrong about players from time to time. Happens. As for Mazi, its not that difficult to arrive to the same conclusion. He's not doing well. He has not remotely lived up to being a 1st round pick. That's just the truth. Hope something clicks and he shows why he was picked but we all expected that to happen during preseason and NOPE. Mazi looks like he is just going thru the motions.

He'll step up in year 4 to get a new big pay day

It's funny when people act like a new coach or even old vets who come in are going to change someone into a new player.

From what I've seen, the questions are about Mazi's effort and desire. No coach or fellow player can change that. It has to come from the player himself.

Better than another Dak contract thread though
How dare you, I can never hear the same posters enough incessantly nag about the same things over and over! I obsess over Stephen being the ultimate outcome of nepotism and even then I say it like 3 times a year.

This year I have actually just gone through and mass ignored people, which sucks, but CZ was just becoming unreadable, and actually looked for different forums after like 30 years.

I think Mazi just doesn’t play with leverage and is unable to shed blocks; he may be strong, but he is slow. I think he was able to use his strength to his advantage in college, but everybody is strong in the NFL, so technique is crucial to be productive player, which he doesn’t have, or hasn’t shown.
Also he doesn’t seem to be a high-effort player…I think it’s telling that they have bought in multiple DTs to back-up a first round pick. Maybe he will flourish under a new system and DC, but I’m not optimistic.
