I don't recall Mazi being drafted for his pass rush abilities.

The stat is in regards to DTs, who also are drafted to stop the run.

He wasn’t drafted for that in particular, but he plays passing downs and you are expected to at least get some push up the middle..

Zim should move Mazi out to DE on some rushes to free him up like they used to do for Aaron Donald.

Correct, and I said when he was drafted that lack of pass rushing ability is why I would not have drafted him, at least in the first round.

This isn't the 1960's NFL where as long as a big fat guy who only stuffs the run is all you need at the NT position. The passing game is the focus of the league and barring a stud DE (or two) like the Bosas, Garrett, etc. you have to have your NT provide at least a modicum of pressures and sacks.
