Mazi's strength and push look fine.. stay with me here and this is the big point... He has to work on his technique.. I know it’s a shocker that a rookie needs to know more than "See ball get ball" when he comes into the NFL but amazingly enough the diference between NCAA blocking schemes and NFL's is huge. How many NCAA OG/C combo's do you think are around that have the talent to reach block Mazi? Kid's gonna be fine now he is learning how to read the tells of whats comming at him in the NFL.

Omg dude. Turn on your tv. And watch him in the first few series. Blown off and pushed around. He was touted as the strongest guy on the planet and they keep saying this, but Im not seeing this translate to holding his position or going forward with any penetration. Not seeing it on any plays.

Mazi has in my opinion looked awful in both preseason games. For all the touting his size, strength, and so on just dont see it here. He is pushed around willy nilly on the line and dont believe this is befitting a first round draft pick. I am predicting a bust of Taco proportions here. Just one of the worst pics in Cowboys history. And now with the possibility of Overshown being gone for the season a disastrous 2023 draft. We cannot get to the next level with misses like these and that has been the history in Dallas.

If Micah is good with Mazi then I'm not worried. Micah knows what they're trying to do with the defense. I'm not basing too much on these games. If we're in week 10 and there's concern about Mazi then I'll get worried.

Billy Davis, WR late 90's, taught me everything about preseason games. He was a HOFer if the season stopped at the preseason. Then regular season came and he disappeared.

Same thing with Jordan Davis last year for the Eagles. He was a non factor. Don't expect him to stay that way. I know people don't want to wait a year or two. But that's what you get with many DTs.

I don't know if he's one of the biggest busts in history but reality is, seeing your first round pick not hit the ground running and instead look like a long term development project is disappointing. Teams count on their first rounders making some impact. The Cowboys ignored FA at DT because they were banking on Smith making an impact.

It's just disappointing at this point. Now hopefully with more game reps he gets better. But right now, he looks sluggish off the line, seems easily pushed around, etc.

Why is this so difficult to acknowledge by others? Reality will set in soon. A first round DT should not look like this. I am shocked by what Dallas saw in this guy. And he had serious questions about his performance in college.

Seattle has a good offensive line and Mazi did play against their starters. He will be fine in the starting defense.

Dallas has one of the most miserable records of drafting DT with the exception of Russel Maryland.

He's getting pushed off the ball way too much to be a run stopper so far. He needs a lot of work and way more than a 1st rounder should need if you are going to draft him there. Not looking good thus far, it's not over but he's failing the eye test for sure.

He wasn't very good in his 2nd year either. People were calling him a bust.

He had 7 sacks his 2nd year and actually received some all pro votes. So he didn't bomb his 2nd year.

Im seeing him blown off the line. Stuffing the run? Im not even seeing any running back touches or tackles or stuffs. Are we watching the same game?

What a reaction to a preseason game for a player that has just gotten here. Personally, my impreasion so far has been unspectular. At times weve seen some good movement, other times we havent seen much. I think its all part of the learning process and theres no need to panic.

This is great and I agree but it also doesn't mean people can't be disappointed or criticize where Smith is right now.

Do you think Smith has looked good? He's looked kinda so-so to me thus far. I don't see why we can't point that out.
