Yeah, I figured, ego too big to ever admit you were wrong. :muttley:
I’ll put it another way. This team cannot go back in time to win some other Super Bowls between 1996 - 2022. They can only move forward. They’ve put themselves in position to compete, which is all you can ask at this time of the year. I will stand behind that statement for eternity.

The Cowboys have 12 starters from their last 4 draft classes. Of those starters, they have gone to 7 Pro Bowls, and named All-pro 6 times. They also have 21 backup players on the team. Of the 53-man roster, 33 players have been added as rookies in the last 3-1/2 years.

The Cowboys have also added 7 veteran starters since 2021 via trade or free agency (Anger, Sieg, Hooker, Kearse, Hankins, Gilmore, Cooks), 4 in the past 10 months alone. That is over 75% of the overall roster since Mike McCarthy took over - including 7 new offensive starters (Smith, Biadaz, Steele, Lamb, Cooks, Ferguson, Schoonmaker), 9 new defensive starters (Diggs, Kearse, Hooker, Gilmore, Bland, Clark, Parsons, Odighizuwa and Hankins) and 3 new special teams starters (Anger, Sieg, Turpin).

Only 5 starters remain on offense from before McCarthy (Prescott, Smith, Martin, Pollard, Gallup), and only 3 starters remain from before Quinn on defense (Wilson, Lawrence, Vander Esch). All of the Specialists are new in the last 2-1/2 years. As a result, the Cowboys have led the league in scoring offense over the past two seasons, and also led the league in turnovers generated by the defense for two consecutive years - a far cry from the 32nd ranked historically bad defense of 2020. This is why, despite the clamor of the national media, Mike McCarthy's job is not in jeopardy this season.

LB and CB depth are a bit of a concern but we have some moves coming I'm sure.
The secondary already matches up with the NFL passing game against top teams. It still needs a touch to stop the shorter yardage run...

Dat Nguyen was a very good and smaller linebacker...but a linebacker first.

Short yardage is tough on a regular basis for a secondary primary player.

Perhaps we can make that big jump this year and merely lose in the NFC Championship game .

I don’t want to see Rayne and McCarthy out of a job and living in an Austin Tent City……oh the humanity
I suppose you’ll have to wait till December and January to see your dreams come true.

Till then, the rest of us will enjoy the ride.

So many Pro Bowlers…..so little playoff sucess.
In the late 90's the Baltimore Ravens were pretty bad. They stockpiled first round picks. Going into the 2000 season there was an article which spoke about what teams have the most first rounders on their roster. The ravens were head and shoulders ahead of everyone since they had been truly pitiful, and even before when they were the Browns.

They ended up winning the Superbowl that year.

Not suggesting anything but that your comment has a flaw.

Appreciate the work with your post jumbo. Two corrections:
-Schoonmaker is not a starter
-Turpin is not a starter

WOW 33 players in 4 drafts!

That is over 75% of the overall roster since Mike McCarthy took over.:eek:
Only 5 starters remain on offense from before McCarthy and only 3 starters remain from before Quinn on defense. This is impressive to say the least.

I knew we've had a good bit of turnover but I had no idea it was to that extent. And I'd have to say I think the changes have been for the better. Can y'all think of anyone we lost that we're missing badly?
Keep up the good work Big Mike and co.!

Lewis rejoins a secondary in Dallas that is flat-out one of the most talented and deepest the Cowboys have seen in a generation. Trevon Diggs, a First-Team All-Pro who is already in Dallas' record books, will be complemented by Stephon Gilmore, a former NFL Defensive Player of the Year, along with breakout sensation DaRon Bland.

That creates a rotation of four impact cornerbacks that is arguably the best in the entire league, and the team has high hopes for rookie sixth-round pick Eric Scott and newly-acquired cornerback Noah Igbinoghene as well (acquired in exchange for Kelvin Joseph).

And then there is the safety group, led by Malik Hooker, Jayron Kearse and Donovan Wilson.

Oh, by the way, the Cowboys also boast a top-3 pass rush unit and added Mazi Smith in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to join Johnathan Hankins in upgrading the run defense.

All told, Lewis nearly needed a bib when he was asked about the potential of the defense; particularly now having him back in the rotation.

After the TLance trade, it appears that Big Mike has little to do with player acquisitions.

They didn’t even tell him.
