Appreciate your optimism. But even in your BEST case scenario, he rushes back in 2 months to get on the field. The likelihood is he'll overcompensate upon his return causing a back injury or something else. Tyron's had an exceptional career. He should hang up the cleats and prepare his HOF speech for induction 5 years from now.

Just saw Schefter's latest "tore to the bone" tweet. He's done.

So Tyron makes the 53, then goes on short term IR. Best case maybe misses the 1st month.

Whoever is plugged in at LT. Will they keep an extra TE to help chip block the pass rusher. Learn from the Chaz Green Human Turnstile Machine.
Or will they just live with getting the QB killed.
I don't trust Moore and MM to make adjustments on this.

TB & Cincinnati defenses can pose problems here. However NYG and Washington, maybe not so much. Especially with Young not playing for Washington.
If Smith misses games after that, which most likely he will.
Then Rams and Eagles are big problems also. Then Lions and Bears, maybe not as big of a problem.

So 4 games big problems possibly, 4 games can be ok from a pass rush issue.

Just throwing something out there for thought.

Do you really think they believe all of their own spin that they have a true contender?

They went into this season with a when, not an if, at LT.

If you think the other Smith is ready to play LT, you are in wishful thinking land. He is a penalty machine waiting to happen at LT at this stage of his development.

If they spent that $20 million on players just because fans want them too. Then the same fans would be whining why they wasted the cap space for these bums, and could have saved it for 2023.
Then they would say fire them for spending it.

You know how it works on here. :muttley:
Jazz, is there no happy medium?
Could they not have used a little of that money to sign a couple of Vet Olinemen?
I am not saying sign flashy free agents and blow the whole cap.
But it was/is an obvious need.

It's obvious that they are going to try that for awhile. This is a test year to see if Dak is a franchise guy at all.

I think you need to look at McC’s track record with makeshift OL’s. The man won a playoff game starting 5 OG’s.

Do you think having his LT as a inevitable casualty was lost on him?

Some don’t like him but at least let the man die before you bury him.

Yes very true.
Many have been saying this all off-season. And I have to agree with them. Needed to make a move on an OT.
Now they will be desperate to do something. No way can / should they sit on their hands.
But I feel they will wait for the waiver wire. Where they will be 24th in the pecking order. Any decent OT's will be claimed by teams before them.

Such a predictable outcome for this team...every year after a playoff appearance, something always goes bad.

And maybe a test for Moore as well? He is going to have to think about pocket integrity and time for his QB with his plan and calling.

Every DC they will fave now knows the attack points are multiple along that line. If he can play it, I would be kicking Martin over to LT to start this season. Put McGovern in his spot.

You don't tear the muscle completely off the bone and only miss a month. This is a multiple months injury, possibly season ending.

IMVHO, Martin could play RT pretty well but, probably not LT. Besides they've asked him to move before and he balked. He's getting to that age where he's pretty much vested at his position. They don't want upset everywhere.
I suspect they are coming to the realization that this will be a test year for Dak, salary dump preparations for next season and a whole gaggle of new coaches.

Actually it would be close to 6 weeks out from today. And I said the best case. As I am waiting on the official report, not from what has been reported and thrown out here today so far.
Hence, I stretched it out to 8 games of the teams they play, but it is 2 weeks or so until opening game. That can put it to 10 weeks, within that 2 month time frame.

Either McCarthy will be the fall guy or he now has his excuse. It all depends on just how comfortable the Jones Boyz are with him.
You can't give head coaches excuses if one player goes down. All teams have injuries. If this team does not win the division or make the playoffs, McCarthy is done. It has nothing to do with Tyron Smith

Hi Jazz,
You are normally very positive and optimistic.
When you say/agree that their is a problem, it's time to be very concerned.

9-8 at best and a MM exit , with Quinn probably taking over early if they know they will miss the playoffs late during the season,
