Some teams actually have these positions in the NFL, where they assist the head coach with in-game management in key situations, similar to assisting with challenges.

I think most of us can agree that McCarthy has some serious in-game management problems that will cost this team in the future, so something has to be done if he's going to be around.

If the Cowboys already have someone in this position, he needs to file for unemployment. Thoughts?
Even the teams with them struggle . I don’t know why some of these decisions are so hard. To me it’s common sense

All Head Coaches have a in game guy standing next to them at all times...its usually a trusted assistant. We already have a guy. MM hasnt been bad. Can he be a bit better? Yes no doubt. But all coaches have been terrible like that this year. We have seen it every weekend, have we not? The Jets HC craps the bed all the time. Sean Peyton, is another I just saw mismanage stuff. MM is what he is and will be. His style has him a ring. Can we just trust him? Lets sit back and see. For all the abuse he took earlier this year, the guys scheme and play calling has been elite except for a few plays here and there in the run game, and much of that isnt his fault, but on the oline. I see Dak grasping the West Coast offense in full and its beautiful to see. Ceedee has broken Irvins single season yardage record because of it. Let that sink in guys. Kellen Moore could never get ceedee THAT open like ,Mike has. KM will be back at Boise in 2024 btw. Book it. Chargers wont bring him back.

I agree Mike makes these mistakes at times and it’s probably even more difficult when he is also calling plays. That a lot of things to focus on at any given time.

I would be perfectly fine with him adding additional help to work on these things.

I think the people who want Mike fired right now are not being realistic.
hes winning us 12 games per the last 3 years in a row if we win next week...and we talking about fixing him? Stop it guys..lol....can we just learn to enjoy winning? Jiminy Christmas.

MM made these same mistakes when he had an OC, so in my mind no additional staff would help change him

Mike McCarthy is a reactive doofus. I'm starting to think he doesn't have an original bone in his body.

I think he kept passing with under 2 minutes left because he was reacting to Dan Campbell's aggressiveness. There's just no excuse for his clock management.

McCarthy could've single handedly costed us the Seattle and Detroit game. If we lose both of those games, we are just fighting for the wildcard. This can't go unnoticed and I'm afraid it'll raise its ugly head in the playoffs.

This type of thinking won't allow us to take the next step. What is wrong at looking at the obvious issues with the organization and trying to improve them? Ignoring them won't do any good.

Did anyone see the Sturm post where Dak admitted that he's the one who chose to throw that bomb at the end of the game and ignored Ferguson wide open underneath for an almost certain completion that would have kept the clock running? It wasn't on Mike.
If that was honestly what had happened, the QB has serious issues. This is game management 101.

To me, it seems like McCarthy is too hung up on “putting the game away” versus being smart about how you should do it. Why go with almost a sure thing with clock management to leave almost no time to do anything when you can blow the whole damn thing going for the knockout blow? He’s just that confident.
I'm OK with trying to end the game on offense while they have the ball, but I expect to see high-percentage throws and definitive routes that get people open. Too often it seems as if the play call is not high-percentage or imaginative (something to catch the defense off guard, something not run yet in the game). So then it just becomes a clock-stopping waste of a play.

It all becomes a real head-scratcher.

I 100% agree, he needs to rely on someone else to help him manage the game and key situations.

no what stops us is the fact we are soft. We rely on finesse instead of physicality. No amount of coaching can overcome that issue.

the margin for winning and losing is razor thin. Its just not a MM issue. We arent physical enough where it matters most. The Niners and Ravens are.

He wanted the MVP. He thinks he's better than what he is IF that report is true. Or he's taking one for the team...taking blame for MM.

I'm telling you now...show me during the playoffs. Show me you're really this good when it matters.

McCarthy needs Cesar Milan to stand behind him, pinch his neck and go Tttssssshhh. Everytime Mike makes a clock management mistake.

The man is among the highest paid coaches in the league in the premier franchise. Parcells said it best: "It's the Big Table in Vegas." If you make rookie, stupid, PREVENTABLE mistakes at the high stakes table...they don't invite you back. Unless they start running low and need to bleed a sucker.

His continued PREVENTABLE blunders means he can't outcoach the other guy. He KEEPS DOING STUPID, UNCONVENTIONAL THINGS AT KEY MOMENTS. Having Dak take a 7 stop drop and turn his back to the D when the ball is on the 1/2 yard line. Failing to bleed the clock in the Seattle and Detroit games.

He's a SB winning coach who was hired on his past resume...and was out of job because he was fired. After he left Rodgers won back-to-back MVPs/13-3 record and the new coach has the team with a new QB poised to make noise in the playoffs. McCarthy needs to do better.

And if Dak is the one who vetoed MM, then he needs to rein in his QB and ORDER HIM not to do that.
