McCarthy needs a Head Coach whisperer

Did anyone see the Sturm post where Dak admitted that he's the one who chose to throw that bomb at the end of the game and ignored Ferguson wide open underneath for an almost certain completion that would have kept the clock running? It wasn't on Mike.
Mike took the blame too. Who's telling the truth?

I saw his press conference explaining why he did it. He said it nicely without throwing anyone under the bus but basically, because the run game sucks so much, he didn’t trust them to make them to make any downs. I haven’t done the math on how much time it would’ve eaten up and I haven’t seen any video yet that has.

Exactly. He did the same **** against Seattle throwing instead of running and not understanding proper use of game clock/timeouts. We got lucky with a defensive stop against Seattle.
And extreme luck after a failed defensive stop against the Lions.

In both cases his logic/reasoning as to the plays called against the game's situational awareness factors were huge fails.

These are just 2 examples.
There's plenty more.
I see nothing wrong with hiring a game management specialist, but I wonder if McCarthy's ego would allow it.

The run game was atrocious. I still say it was better to run (for zero yards even), protect the ball and kick with little to no time left. The Cowboys have no concept of keepaway.

He really need someone telling him, helping him with decisions, especially clock management. He seems to get lost in the game and forget fundamental decision making at critical points in games. He has a lot going for him but he needs someone in the booth telling him to run out the clock etc…

He has personally lost us games due to poor plays called at critical points in games too. He need to hire someone to be the honest angel on his shoulder with no fear of reprisal.
Shottenheimer should handle the game management.

Joe Torre had this with Don Zimmer and Mel Stottlemyre.
I fully agree

They have a get back coach I'm sure. Might as well have a clock management and a replay coach as well.

He’s a sandwich short of a picnic when it comes to clock management.

He's got one in Dave Campo. All the players have to bring their lunch pails.

Dak needs to be smarter than that.

There are times where Big Mike makes mistakes with game or clock management.

He is also a highly aggressive coach. So sometimes he goes for the jugular, it doesn’t work and then it gives the opponent an opening.

Everytime he does go for the jugular, it does work and the cowboys put away an opponent or end up blowing them out, people just forget about it lol. We don’t hear after the game, I wish McCarthy would have been more conservative there, when we scored that touchdown.

So it works both ways.

You have to take the good with the bad I think. I mean we are one win over a crap team away from the #2 seed in the NFC. He is doing a lot of things right too.

McCarthy has a HOF consideration resume.

He really needs someone to help him be a head coach.

He was definately making it unnessecarily exciting, that much is certain. I was literally yelling at the TV "why pass the friggin ball you %$§!xyz#???"

Has he said anything about this in a presser? They don't air that stuff over here and I don't use Twitter/X.

Edit: Just saw this post:

He literaly threw his rungame under the bus but without throwing them under the bus?

Sounds like a cowboys problem didn't moore and Garrett have this issue

Most fans don't understand what they're even criticizing. Just blame the head coach.

McCarthy wouldn't have lost those Super Bowls and allowed the Steelers to be the team of the 70s. While insisting on wearing a suit with a fedora to avoid any representation of the team.

Mike took the blame too. Who's telling the truth?
I would say combo of both.

Mike, in hindsight probably wishes he just called a run play.

That being said, when Dak saw that cooks wasn’t open he really should have either dumped it off or ran with it. As opposed to throwing the ball away.

To me, it seems like McCarthy is too hung up on “putting the game away” versus being smart about how you should do it. Why go with almost a sure thing with clock management to leave almost no time to do anything when you can blow the whole damn thing going for the knockout blow? He’s just that confident.
This is a bad example to show MM doesn't know what he's doing. Dak has admitted that the decision to throw was his, not MM's. There are multiple options on every play and Dak admits he made the decision to take the shot downfield instead of a shorter, safer option. Part of what has vitalized the offense since the break is giving Dak the power to make decisions at the line of scrimmage. This time he didn't make the best decision, but it's not a basis for savaging MM who is not going to publicly throw his under the bus.

If he can't handle basic head coaching functions then he shouldn't be a head coach.
Even great leaders can be helped by good advisors. Julias Caesar had an advisor follow him around reminding him, "Remember, thou art mortal." And he did more than that. He kept him apprised of the strength of foreign armies, and he would remind him when to rest his troops. Napoleon Bonaparte also had important advisors. I don't think he could have been as successful without the wise advice from Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès. It's also generally accepted that Hitler was a lousy military commander. The difference with him was he thought he was some kind of genius who always knew better than everyone else.
...
So if McCarthy used some kind of adviser who reminded him of things like, "Run on the first three downs here to wolf down as much time as possible," I think I would be okay with that.
