The game has passed Mike by. He knows it's now time to hang up the headset and go enjoy life as a retired NFL head coach.

I would be shocked if Mike doesn't announce his retirement after this season.

He had a good run in Green Bay, and that he can be proud of. He was done when the Packers fired him in 2018. He has now accepted that the Packers made the right call.
You do know we have been 12-5 the last two years? What's your idea of a competent head coach?

I think Farniok is looked at as G/C depth Where you have concern is Ball Waletzco are either roster worthy as a back up NFL tackle .
Given Steele coming off injury and I’m sorry Tyron Smith is not 16 game ready . I would have left Tyier Smith as LT . Let the Tyron / Steele combo provide a starter and depth at RT .
The thing I hate about this team is we always have guys playing out of position. Ball playing right guard.....he's 6'8 for crying out loud. How do you expect him to get low and drive someone? He's a freaking tackle.....Waletzko was a left tackle in college...why not see what he can do there in the pros???Nope....flipped to the right side...where he is a skinny bean pole that can't drive block.... Chuma was a guard @ USC...failed miserabily in NY because the Jets tried to make him a tackle....why not correct that mistake??? Nope....we are just gonna compound it...He's your back up left tackle. Farniok looked ok @ center 2 years ago.....has barely played there since. Asim Richards.....Played tackle in college...has the size of a guard @ 6'4.....so....let's leave him out at tackle. You seriously can't make the stupidity of this team up. It's like this every year.

come on, you gotta think outside of the box. Did you forget Acorn playing defense? Tom Landry could never do the stuff we're doing now.

I think this gets overblown every year. No team in the NFL would do well putting 5 back ups in against a team that was mostly playing its starters.
What you hope for is a competent swing tackle and a competent IOL.
If you have to play more than two backup OL, you are pretty much out-of-luck.
Keep in mind, the guy that the coaches want to be the swing tackle did not play today, plus we have an ace up our sleeves on that our starting LG is also a top-ten LT.

Mike's best years were in Green Bay. The end.

And I'll take Matt LaFleur's 49 wins in 4 years and 2 NFC Championship games over whatever you are thinking Mike has done in Dallas.

We will see which coach is more successful over the next 5 years.

And how many of those wins were with HOF QB Aaron Rodgers pulling the trigger & Davante Adams hauling in double digit TD's? The aforementioned back-to-back 12-5 seasons for McCarthy in Dallas, shows he can win as a head coach outside of Green Bay & without the dynamic duo. Now let's see if LeFleur can do the same. He couldn't sniff a super with the back-to-back NFL MVP and Adams. Now both are gone after the wheels fell off in 2022.

So Ive been told, Mike's got this. I believe his SB winning year he set a then record for how many starters lost to injury. Several to season ending IR if I'm not mistaken. Including the o-line.

Coaching 'em up is the name of the game now.
As has been mentioned, quality backup o-line play is a rarity in the NFL throughout the entire league.

So all we can do is see what McCarthy and Solari can accomplish with what they've got.

Other teams overcome o-line deficiencies. It's called coaching.
Time for McCarthy to prove his worth.

MM thought about talking to us like a normal coach for a second then quickly realized that the "Ketchup Popsicle" guy was his boss. Changed tune.. easy call.
No. It was just a stupid revelation you don't disclose as a coach. Smart coaches don't talk about team weaknesses to the public.

Another Mikerophone moment from the big guy.

The Cowboys knew the OL depth was an issue and failed to address…again. LT is breaking down physically and can be counted in to miss some games this season; RT is coming off a major surgery; LG is secure so long as he doesn’t have to slide over to LT due to injury; the C is serviceable; RG is holding out and Jerry’s ego is preventing the situation from being remedied.
There was ample opportunity to find OL help in the draft, but instead went with a TE in the 2nd round and failed to address the position until late in the draft.
MM keeps talking up the back-up OL and talking “position flex”, but none have actually shown anything when it counts..:flashing during TC in a controlled environment is a completely different animal than flashing during live games.
This team needs the OL to play well in order to be successful…they need these preseason games to play together and build continuity as they will be going up against some premiere DLs during the season.
The FO consistently overestimates the talent they have in the team and fail to be proactive yet again…we saw it with the WR position previously and now seeing it with the OL and K.

So, is Mike McCarthy the reason the Packers were successful or the players? You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth, then claim LaFleur only won because of having good players.

The Packers were 6-9-1 in 2018 and fired McCarthy in December. Keep propping up the head coach you dumpster dove in Green Bay to get.

As I said, we will see who which head coach is more successful over the next five years. Everyone knows who that will be.

This season and many after it are going to be a blast! Can't wait! Is it September yet?

And of course you will have the benefit of that generational (although a flake) QB. Uhh, NO, he is in NY. I am amazed you come over to this site acting all arrogant . . . well, no, I guess I'm not . . . you are a fan of the ***** packers.
