He has talked about liking guys 6'3"+ 240-275lbs body type on his roster. Says it helps fill out special teams and improve the physicality on the roster. Last time I heard him talk about it was in the context of DE.

The hilarious part is most of the Gibbs guys are the Zeke apologists. The guy that lauded Zeke for his blocking ability, short yardage prowess, wearing out the defense, toughness, durability, ect... ect...

Same guys that cut up Pollard for his supposed short yardage, blocking, finesse, durability concerns.

And now they want to draft a Pollard clone. LOL

It really is comical how the Cowboys fan base works. Already if Mayers gets drafted, 2/3 of the fan base will hate him no matter what he does.
I’ve stated I would go a different direction but that doesn’t mean that I don’t see the logic in drafting Gibbs (or Mayer for that matter). I actually shared a case for why Gibbs makes sense…and I don’t even prefer him. The problem is people get so invested in their positions that they are blind to other possibilities and dismissive of others opinions.

And does it matter that there are apologists and is it really worth getting worked up over? I’m the new guy here but am beginning to think some posters must be keeping logs of user comments for future ammo the way the past keeps getting rehashed. Am I the only one who has 99 problems and the Cowboys ain’t one?

This is NOT pointed at you…just the tone of the board in general. It gives me tired head.

And by the way, fan is short for fanatical. It shouldn’t be surprising that fanatics can be fickle one minute and steadfast the next.

Oh heck yah there is definitely logs of user comments to bring out later. Happens all the time.

I dont want the Cowboys to draft a RB in the first round, but if I they do I will still be excited that they got that kind of talent. Especially Bijon. I just want them to use their limited assets properly. Fine line between beating the niners or not, between winning it all and not. These little mistakes make all the difference.

So hes a backup plan in a year IF Pollard should leave? How does that make any sense? This is a FIRST round pick mind you.

Our Oline is in shambles after this season and is worse going into next season. A guy like Gibbs needs big time blocking. And we already know this year that Pollard is the lead back.

Makes ZERO sense.

Im on record as saying it will 100% NEVER HAPPEN!!

As dumb as Jerry is, he cant be that stupid.
Well, we took Cee Dee Lamb in 2020 when we had Gallup and Cooper. That made NO SENSE. Yet, we took him because he was the best available player when it came our time to pick.

Second, we got in trouble earlier in the Jones regime when we started drafting back up players instead of players ready to be starters if called upon. You pick talent and playmakers PERIODT!

Third, the running back position isn't a bell cow position anymore. Teams rotate backs. And if you're a running team, wouldn't you want to rotate Pollard with another Pollard than Pollard with Malik Davis?

I'm not going to swear that it will happen, i.e., that the Cowboys will 100% take Gibbs. But I'm not ruling out the possibility.

Its the RB in the first round thing. And this is a great RB draft. Dont need to take one now. And look what happened with Cooper? That was a cluster. Trading for Cooper was a waste.

I also dont see Gibbs as BPA. People get all sticky because hes a weapon so they can see a tangible difference.

A stud Oline makes the team much better now and over time.

They want Kincaid or Musgrave if they go TE

100% it’s going to be a skill player at 26

Bijan
Gibbs
Kincaid
Musgrave
JSN
Johnston
Flowers
Hyatt

One of those guys will be their first pick
It's not surprising since the theme of this offseason was give Dak more help, hence why they went with Cooks. Now, I think if they go skill at 26 it's likely a TE or TB, not a WR. A 4th WR doesn't little for you when one considers the Cowboys are pretty open about the fact one reason they are cautious in FA is they use the draft for impact guys and they want their first rounder to be an immediate impact guy. A 4th WR ain't gonna make that impact, especially someone like Hyatt who is totally raw and has serious questions. Now, JSN is a guy they might take because I suspect he's the highest rated guy on their board and it may be a CD Lamb situation where you have to take him as he's BPA by a mile. But at least in Lamb's situation they had a need for a 3rd WR and we use our 3rd WR a lot.

So if they go skill, my guess is one of the two TBs (Robinson, Gibbs) or one of the TEs (Washington, Mayer, Kincaid).

Fair enough.
I'm big on building the lines too.

Ehhhh.......... we played a lot of 3 WR sets and had a need for another WR beyond Cooper and Gallup. Not a pressing need mind you but we still could have used a 3rd WR. So it made it easier to take Lamb as BPA because while we had bigger needs, he still could fill a role for us and play a lot as a rookie.

Taking a WR now is peculiar because we pretty much have a locked in Top 3 with Lamb, Cooks and Gallup. If that threesome works, a WR taken at 26 would likely play less than 175 snaps or so which seems like bad value for a team that pretty much needs their top pick to fill a hole and play a ton as a rookie.

The Cowboys have to have interest in Luke Musgrave. The problem is he was injured at the beginning of the season and his career stats are not great at all. The guy is bigger and faster then Kincaid and Mayer. His testing was just as good as Washington.

I don't want a receiver at 26 either.

The TE news is all bs. Broaddus just came out today and said they don’t want Mayer. Of course he could be wrong and Jane could be right. But I’ve said all along they want a receiving threat at TE. I’ll stick w that
Well we got Broaddus who is often wrong vs MM's quote, Dane Brugler, Mel Kiper, Jane Slater, and Mike Giardi....it's either the biggest smokescreen ever or the Cowboys actually do just want Mayer which is far more likely to me

Hopefully he's talking about Luke Schoonmaker after the 2nd round and not Mayer in the 1st!
Even worse. That guy is like 27 years old and nothing special. I hope we draft Kuntz in the 4th if we really need to take a TE that early.
