MM is not going to say anything to disparage his players. That is not his way. And in a way he is right. There is little difference between Cook, Elliott and Dowdle. Why demote on player to bring up another who will not perform much better? The problem is the Cowboys needed to draft a RB, and there were a few available in the 4th round. But they traded their 4th round pick for Lance, a player they did not need. Still I imagine they could have swung a trade to move up into the 4th round had they tried. Or, they could have drafted a RB instead of Liufau.

For all those making excuses for McCarthy like, "what is he supposed to say", and "he can't just come out and tell the truth", how do you guys think Jimmy Johnson would respond under the same conditions?

Jimmy had guts. McCarthy has none. Just happy to collect his last check, and get fired.

Well to be clear McCarthy would rather pass than run so a crappy run game makes his decision to pass easier.

Here are some other details about McCarthy's offense with the Packers:
Play-action: The Packers didn't run a lot of play-action under McCarthy, with most of their offense running as straight drop-backs from the Shotgun.
Back-to-basics approach: McCarthy took a back-to-basics approach on offense, building a playbook like it was his first year as a staff.
Giving coaches a voice: McCarthy wanted to give more coaches a voice, feeling that the previous structure might have stifled some of the younger coaches.
