I wish he'd go full scorched earth on Jerry, though I understand why he won't.
I hope he does too. I think he’s afraid of possibly hurting his future chances of getting hired but if Brian Flores can get hired twice since what he did against Miami? I’d let her rip. They screwed McCarthy over. They made him a damn man walking and everyone knows it.

Mike, you had a full staff ready to go for the last 3 seasons, and what difference did that make?
you've had the fortune of having a garbage schedule for the past 3 years. This year, it's not garbage, and it shows how your lack of discipline, leadership, and preparation effects of football team ask Aaron Rodgers.
You've never been able to win an important game, so pack your bags and hit the buffet trail.
This isn't excusing Jerry, but Mike is a total fraud.

This sounds like a head coach who knows his time is almost up and is trying to get a head start on the narrative so he can possibly get an interview with another team. He's also not wrong, but I'm assuming he wont be getting that other interview either.

He is 100% right. This is not newsflash, but this "football" team is run like a business FIRST. If you can win football games within the confines of the Jones Boys business plan, that is just gravy. And being 12 - 5 three straight years gave the Jones Boys the false sense that they felt they just need a break here or there. You do NOT win a Super Bowl by getting a break here or there in the postseason.

We get beat SOUNDLY....and EARLY during the postseason, because we are NOT close to a Super Bowl. This notion that just make the playoffs and "anything" can happen is NONSENSE. Not when you will likely need to win 4 games to raise the trophy.

We are not focused enough. We are not physical enough. We are not disciplined enough. And lastly we are not talented enough to win 4 straight postseason games. We got beat BADLY by a young coach and QB last year. They turned on the film and had no doubt that they would beat us. Listen to the 49ers coaching staff and they had no doubt the Packers would beat us. We are a joke and a fraud in REAL football circles.

And to have each offseason over the past 3 years get progressively worse is proof that winning a Super Bowl is NOT the priority!!!!

It is excusing Jerry. Jerry gave Mike an out. I’m not a fan of Mike at all. But he won consistently 12 games despite his GM ignoring key ingreidejents it takes to win in this league. I’ve heard it since I was a child and I’m sure you have to. You will not win a ring in this league if you don’t take care of the trenches. It’s never been done.

Jerry failed him and is lucky he got the little success he did. Mike isn’t blameless but you’re asking the guy to go to a shootout with a butter knife.

They typically don’t. Coaches get ruined here. Jason Garrett as much as we dislike him was a hot candidate at one point. Kris Richard was. Just ruined.

Agreed. I will say this for Jerry last year trading for Cooks and Gilmore….they showed flashes on going for it….but once again the trenches. Completely ignored it.

He is absolutely right, of course. It is stupid to wait until just before the season begins to sign players, whether it is an extension or a new free agent. Jerry should have either signed or traded his stars in March before the draft. Or, in Dak's case, he didn't have to sign him at all. He was already under contract in 2024.

Jerry and Stephen are the problem, or at least we know Jerry is.

And btw, why should McCarthy quit now. He is the coach, not the owner. He may have voiced his objections to Jerry last spring but in the end, the boss makes the final decisions.

Most of us would endure the worst management on the face of the Earth for a couple months to make several million dollars. I'm dealing with awful management now and I'm not making nearly that much.
He would’ve already been fired from every other organization in the NFL, especially after the Green Bay.

Instead he works for the one owner that doesn’t care about winning, so he gets to suck at his job but still kept it.

So him “working for the worst management on Earth” benefits him. He would be unemployed right now anywhere else.

Outstanding post.
Especially the just make the playoffs and see what happens part.
It's a fantasy mindset that this hypnotist has convinced so many here about how a false sense of security off regular season success can translate to post season wins.

He perfected this art of building a team that is "just good enough" to make the playoffs but never a genuine contender for the trophy.

A player away, luck and ball bounces our way are his foundation.

Other GMs, coaches and players all know this about this team. As does the national media.
Intelligent fans do as well. Emphasis on intelligent.

Unfortunately the ones in charge don't.
And here we sit, 29 years later.

Yeah I don’t get the quit part. That would be gutless. That’s not his character.

Personally. I would have fired him after the first San Fran game and the plethora of penalties that occurred.

Not just that. But he then said he would fix them in the off-season. That would have been it for me.
