Just like Moore's retention as OC when McCarthy was hired was not McCarthy's decision and
Nolan's firing was not McCarthy's wish.
Several of these firing decisions of McCarthys personally chosen staff are being made by the real Head Coach, not the one masquerading as one.

Dang, it's pretty bad when first your offensive coordinator is chosen for you but at least you have say in the position coaches.
Now he doesn't even have position coach control, smh.

More fun times as a Head Coach at the Star!
Keep cashing those checks Mike.
And to think some of you believe Jerry doesn't have final decision authority on all football related matters any more, LOL

The more that things change...
These don't appear to be firings, they seem to be related to contracts and ending and not being re-hired. Philbin is obviously the biggest surprise, because he's been with MM.

I don't think JJ is really in the business of firing anybody anymore, as it means money is simply wasted.

I like him except for two things: Why are penalties still a big issue and why is he so insanely bad at clock management?
I agree with you on both points here. I do think clock management is generally poor by most head coaches.

The Cowboys were 6th in penalties, SF was the 5th most penalized team. The Colts were 32nd in penalties. Cowboys need to be better with penalties, however I think if you are the least penalized team in the league, you are the least aggressive team. That’s not McCarthy. They need to work back to the middle of the pack in penalties, imo

Nah, while I agree with almost all of your posts I totally disagree here.
These are all mini versions of Moore being chosen for his HC while Jerry again proves he is final decision maker on ALL Cowboys football related matters.

Deep down Jerry still is stuck on "500 coaches could win a trophy with the talent I bring in mantra."

Accordingly, he'll hire and fire HC's, coordinators or position coaches as he sees fit.

Oh I agree Jerry is behind this, I'm just saying I don't think it's really anything other than position coaches having their contract play out. If MM had a choice, I don't think Philbin wouldbe going anywhere and MM would re-hire him.

Oh, gotcha then. I misinterpreted your prior post.

I doubt Jerry will ever give Payton the power he needs to come here.
The guy is closing in on 81.

He is going to give up power to someone else sooner than later.

If Jerry truly thinks his kid is better equipped to run a football team than a guy like Payton, maybe we are truly sunk for our lifetimes.

It’s so hard to think they do anything because of results. It feels more about perception and not losing fans and viewers but whatever.

I have watched 27 or so of these pressers, and like the others I couldn't give a rats behind about what lies will be spawned. "It's the same old story, the same old song dance..."

Does any other team hold press conferences to announce they're not renewing contracts? This seems like yet another attempt by Cowboys brass to stay relevant and/or for Jerry/Stephen to pawn off responsibility. Because, even if they're going to announce, isn't it usually the GM who does this? You know, the person actually in charge of personnel. Cause we all know that's not MM.

McCarthy is done...lame duck! Most of these assistants were already his guys. Jerry is sending him a message that he is on thin ice. Maybe even cleaning house to get Dan Quinn stick around as DC another year with the strong possibility that the HC job can be his eventually

I think some of these decisions are actually McCarthy's. No way would Jerry let Leon Lett go. That had to be a MM decision.

Is this a warning shot from Jerry taking away some of his favorite coaches?

Will this also force Quinn out taking away George Edwards?

We only wish.

This team rallies around Quinn. Can't get it rolling for McCarthy. There's no comparison, really.
The Cowboys won 12 games in the leagues toughest division. I’d say the team did rally around Big Mike. That being said, I’d fire MCCarthy and promote Quinn if that’s what it takes to keep him.
