I think this fast start for Rolondo McClain can be the springboard to great things in Dallas. I think we are all creatures of momentum, and some more than others. His interception yesterday was a big play, and was outstanding effort and concentration on his part. The success he has had early should help him get his momentum going and could propel him to great success in Dallas. Time will tell.

To that end, maybe playing in the dregs of Oakland made him dislike football. Randy Moss basically said he packed it in at times out there, I guess its possible that the environment is so bad that guys just straight up don't want to play there.

Pretty much the same story as Kyle Orton - who retired just to get the hell out of Dallas lol

I agree I also think the nastiness he plays with will motivate. He attacks a ball carrier

A slightly off-topic rant...

The speed of the game has gotten too fast for referees to follow. I could immediately tell McClain never allowed the ball to hit the ground when he intercepted the ball--which was a highlight reel play in my opinion. Even so, the refs said it was an incomplete pass. A great defensive play was almost negated by a ref unable to properly process a turnover in real time. I really think the game needs more real-time electronic officiating. The NFL should consider having two extra refs in the booth watching the games as the networks present them to fans at home. Then, those refs can make quicker decisions and inform the field crew of bad calls without having to fall back on replay review for challengable plays or screwing teams for bad calls on plays that cannot be challenged by review. Just my $.02.

/end rant

Officials haven't caught up with the freakish athleticism of guys like McClain and Dez, and it has cost the Cowboys two TD in the last four games. It usually costs Dez about one big play per season, in fact. Hopefully, we got that over with in that preseason game.

A good official sees with his eyes, instead of with an assuming mind. If there's any doubt, let it play out. If it wasn't a TD, they can always go to the replay to find out where to spot the ball when they bring it back. No harm done.

And if the ref is unsure let the play continue and clean it up later, don't call something you don't see, cost McClain a TD.

success breeds success. it's clear that Rolando has his priorities straight. his postgame interview on DC.com was introspective and a branch to the fans that are wary of his past. he is in a good, good place right now. he loves being a Cowboy, loves the character of the team. the guy is straight up ready to ball... my favorite line was "win lose or draw, they need to feel us the next day".

what's interesting is that he never gave a reason for not wanting to be with Baltimore- a much better option on paper than the Cowboys. I think alot of that had to do with his soul-searching and looking for a team with better than average character, and I think his limited time with the Ravens was proof that was a bad mix for himself and where he was personally.

If a guy lives off momentum...not love-of-the-game, internal passion, commitment to team, family, self-respect...how will he survive when that inevitable home game comes where its crickets in the Jerry dome?

There are reasons such extreme talent doesn't translate. And those reasons usually don't disappear.

He's epic! True! But also true... he's borrowed time. Fools gold.

I hope for the Cowboys sake...and for Rolando's sake...I'm wrong.

Raider so suck, I was watching some of that game. WR fumbles twice on 1 play? lol

James Jones is so ridiculous. I've never seen a guy make so many special plays make so many stupid plays lol. He has so much potential but at this point he simply is what he is. A screw up waiting to happen.

Maybe he melts down or something in the future, but for right now, I like what he brings to the table. The most critical thing he brings is ATTITUDE. Dez brings the attitude on the offensive side and McClain brings it on defense. We've always had talented, 'technical' and cerebral guys, but we need guys who absolutely hate losing and aren't afraid to show it. I have a feeling if a situation like Golden Tate and Sean Lee happened again, he wouldn't be just standing around and watching... There's been a lot of antics that goes on from other teams and I think this guy can lay enough guys out to make them reconsider the buffoonery.

I want guys like Murray, Dez, McClain, Harris and Beasley to be the future of this team.
I like the fact that Murray gets angry when he isn't given the ball on obvious situations. I liked when Dez 'melted down' last year. We need guys that are passionate about winning...

This Cowboys team is different in the sense that it is looking for the "tag" on each available opportunity. McClain is bringing the sting to a team that has been bullied far, far too long. It's the way he does it on the field that impresses: he isn't a yapper, he isn't ultra demonstrative. He makes a solid tackle, maybe a quick howl... and raises a clenched fist signifying 4th Down.

They should have let it played out cause a turnover is automatically reviewed and McClain would have scored a TD which is also automation reviewed. Refs needed to let it play out then automatic review

I think its a big mistake to think of McClain long term. I get that fans want to sign a player up for next 10 years when they make few plays. Rather, I say just enjoy the moment that opposing RB aren't gashing Dallas up the middle and read about how much Dallas misses Lee every week in paper. McClain in fun to watch but his track record can't be ignored.

McClain bring an element of physicality to the table that's been missing from this defense previously. Gotta love the way he threw that offensive player down like a ragdoll last Sunday vs. the Titans. We need more of that. To be perfectly candid, though, I was just a bit surprised he wasn't flagged for unnecessary roughness. He may have escaped a penalty on that one by the skin of his teeth, however. Injecting a little fear into the opponent is something new for us. Gotta say, I like it.

This guy is better than Lee and hopefully will be our MLB for the next decade. None of us know his story. His head is on straight now and so let's roll! We've got our Patrick Willis.
The Playmaker said it best:

Irvin: “I’m in the redeeming business, I’ve been redeemed. So anytime I see anybody do anything from the standpoint of trying to redeem themselves, I’m going to yell that out and give him love, man. This boy is making some plays now.

Who amongst us haven't needed some redemption. If you haven't .... just keep on living.
