While McClain might not be the better player he might be a better presence in the middle. When I watch McClain I can't help but think of Brian Urlacher. His size and physicality makes this defense that much better and not just against the run but his size and range in pass protection takes away a lot in the middle of the field. He also has great range, speed and knowledge of how to beat someone the the spot.
I love Sean Lee but if we can somehow resign McClain you gotta move Lee over to WLB and let McClain man the middle. With these two and an addition of a stud defensive lineman next year we should have a top 5 defense next season. Lee's 4th injury may be a blessing in disguise.

McClain IF he plays the rest of the season like he has the last two games and IF he resigns with Dallas would be the MLB next season with Sean Lee moving to the WLB spot.

McClain proved he isn't too shabby vs. the pass either. ;)

Rolondo has been a beast.I think Sean might be better as a Will.

Its tough. You got one guy who loves the game 24-7 and is one of the top middle linebaxkers when he is healthy.
Then you got another guy who is more athletic and has the tools to be better. However, he has questionable work ethic/desire and could slip back if he gets a new, bigger contract.
RM had a great game , and has been our best linebacker so far.

I wanna see more before I'm sold on him, especially in the long term plans.

Yeah hope if keeps ballin he stays and Lee moves too weakside where he will be more in space instead of taking on a lot of blockers in the middle.

Lee is no slouch in terms of athleticism either.

This really really a tough question at all. If Ro McClain performs beyond what we thought of him to do and makes our defense better you sign him, keep him at linebacker and build from there. If Lee comes back have him at the Sam position. I honestly do not want Lee being injured again without any quality to back him up. If Ro McClain is not sign and Lee gets injured again we are going to be in big trouble, AGAIN.

I wonder if people realize that they can praise McClain without trashing Lee or claiming he's better than Lee ever was after 2 games.

How quickly people forget what a monster Lee is when he's healthy.

That "healthy" part is perty importante.
I root for the guy heavily. I want him to come in and do what he can do for this team.

I hate that he's been sidelined so much, but it is what it is.
So I will continue to root for Lee, but I'm sure happy Ro Mac is on that field producing.

I'll feel even more fat and sassy when he (Ro obviously) shows he's fully dedicated to the game now- no funny business anymore and Lee gets back and we can see them together.
Hopefully for entire seasons...

Who is Sean Lee again? Oh that's right, the guy who won't see the field AGAIN!
