It's also a blessing we didn't draft Shazier because the Steelers got him right ahead of our pick. I'll take McClain and Martin instead, thank you. And Hitchens.

I'll take the inferior player that actually can stay healthy

2 games, kids.

Parcells, annointing oil, yada yada yada.
Screw all that. If you can't tell what kind of player someone is after 4 games, then you're never going to. It's not like he's a rookie and people are saying he'll never develop. He's developed. He is who he is. And he's good. Not great, but a damn good linebacker.

I look forward to having Lee lineup with McClain and Carter. I don't think McClain lacks desire, Nick Saban knows him well and has done nothing but praise McClain. McClain saw his life and family going down the tubes and did what he felt he had to do to get his life back in order.

I'd take a healthy Lee over McClain any day. I love what McClain has given us these first 2 games but I don't trust him to keep doing it if he's given a big contract

Yeah, we pay him and he decides he doesn't love the game anymore again. Then what?

I wonder if people realize that they can praise McClain without trashing Lee or claiming he's better than Lee ever was after 2 games.

How quickly people forget what a monster Lee is when he's healthy.

When healthy but how often is that?? I dont think the people on the board are trashing Sean i think they are just calling it like they see it... He is hurt again for a long time this time its the season and will probably be a career thing for Sean as far as injuries to when he misses games. So i'm expecting him to get hurt at some point from here on out, not that he's trying to get hurt but some guys are just that way, far as injuries that have him missing multiple games every season so a move to Will LB might good for Sean Lee... And also Rolondo McClain was an All American for Alabama who Nick Sabin has high praise for as a former player still to this day and all he needed was some order in his life to be able to focus on football.....

While McClain might not be the better player he might be a better presence in the middle. When I watch McClain I can't help but think of Brian Urlacher. His size and physicality makes this defense that much better and not just against the run but his size and range in pass protection takes away a lot in the middle of the field. He also has great range, speed and knowledge of how to beat someone the the spot.
I love Sean Lee but if we can somehow resign McClain you gotta move Lee over to WLB and let McClain man the middle. With these two and an addition of a stud defensive lineman next year we should have a top 5 defense next season. Lee's 4th injury may be a blessing in disguise.

McClain isn't as good as Urlacher in coverage, but he's more physical and explosive at the point of attack. He is going to flat-out bruise some lead blockers and ball carriers.

Last week I saw him hit a San Fran pulling guard right in the hole... he stopped that guy on a dime and stood him straight up. You could tell the guard was stunned. The RB ran into his back and another Cowboy player cleaned up the run for no yardage. That isn't a fluke and it is something that very few MLB's can even physically do. He just shocked that guy. I've seen Urlacher hit some ball carriers hard... but I never saw him just stop a pulling guard on the spot and stun him.

Fan-tastic. That is what we've been needing for a while.

Jerry has paid players who get the big contract and dont produce nothing near to pre-contract extension, so I think i will take my chances on a guy who you are seeing with your own eyes producing making plays for this so called "awful" defense and look at it this way we got a top 10 talent for a 6th rounder!! Sean Lee and McClain lets make it work next few yrs

The McClain signing looks great right now, I'll admit. But be careful projecting too much for next year. You sign this guy to a multi-year, big money contract (which his play this year likely will merit), and who knows where his head is at after the payday...

They bring different things to the table. Sean Lee is a sort of defensive general and provides mental leadership. Rolondo McClain brings emotional leadership. With McClain and Lee, we might have that monster linebacker duo we've been expecting from Carter and Lee. One thing I like about McClain is he brings what Kam Chancellor does to the Seahawks... that physical intimidation.

Im starting to fall in love with this guy. He reminds me alot of Ken Norton Jr.
This team needed a player like him. Hope he keeps it up.

Thats why his contract would have to be pay to play type. Signing bonus and all would be able to be recovered by the Boys if he decides he no longer wants to play......Pretty common sense to me, but we are dealing with Jerry

Gotta feeling Carter won't be here next year.....unless he can't get a good size contract and will sign for a 1 year prove it deal here.

i agree. he has'nt earned a second contract. to me the only guys you give a second contract are those you can sign cheap and the special players. average to good players you can't sign to second contracts because they cost too much for what you get. thats why it's so important to draft well in the middle of the draft

Hey, guys. We just need to resign McClain, get Lee healthy and add one top defensive lineman and we should be a top 5 defense.

We are thisclose.

Geez. I like you man but goodness I'd hate to be as miserable as you seem to always be.

I don't know about top 5 but if McClain continues to improve and stays and moving Lee helps to keep him healthy (doubtful) and we can add at least one quality piece to the D-Line then it's definitely a better defense.
