and that's my main point. look at the title of this thread and that's exactly what is being done. mcfadden or bust. if we wind up not getting mcfadden all the people who targeted him now will likely be disappointed cause they did in fact spend a lot of time hoping and directing activities to where it could be a possibility vs. waiting and seeing how things pan out.

people spending the pick now frustrate me like i probably frustrate them in my replies. but hey - i'll have a smoke, chill out and like i said, i'll work on it.

Yeah, but I think it could be more of wanting the number 1 pick. Since McFadden is ranked as the number 1 pick by basically everyone right now, of course his name hits the headline. Not to mention the Arkansas ties of Jerrah and some on this board.

Heck, if we get a top 5 pick, I will probably be happy with whoever we get, unless it is another LBer, lol. But then again, its September, by the time the draft comes, I will probably have more of an idea who I would want. I know its irritating to talk about right now and the endless threads that happen cause of the pick, but I know that all of us are at least keeping an eye on the Cleveland situation. Talking about it will happen, and shouldn't be a suprise.

I was reading up on the game from some of Clevands local Papers. Not only did they take a thumping, but their QBs and Offensive line looked wretched doing it. Just a demoralizing butt-whippin on their home turf!
I watched a good bit of this game yesterday (on NFL Sunday Ticket).

The Browns looked truly awful.

Romeo Cremel has "dead man walking" written all over him. It is just a matter of time. Given the way he looked while addressing the media, Cremel seems to know that he isn't long for his job.

The Steelers are a decent team and the Browns have 15 more games to play, so maybe the Browns will get better. But they were so awful yesterday, particularly their OL, that they didn't even look like an NFL team.

DT for LSU
Dorsey is a beast. I know he is from LSU and all, and we have not had good luck with their players recently, but it is hard to ignore this guy if you are looking for a DT. He blows up everything in his face. All LSU players aren't bad either. I hear Addai is doing pretty good for himself.

CB is definately an option, but good ones can be had latter. We don't need one, nor do I think one will be available in the top 5.

WR isn't a huge need, before this season I had a feeling this was Glenn's last season in Dallas. Crayton will be a decent #2, but I wouldn't mind adding Early Doucet, or another WR with deep speed. But I'd be more inclined to draft a CB here. If Malcom Jenkins comes out, I'd be willing to trade up for him.

I think the O-line will be fine, It's CB I'm worried about. Reeves is a decent option now, but I hope we can get a young corner in 08', and hopefully a young WR in round 2 and NT in round 3. And ofcourse that Arkansas dude with the top pick :)
I think if McFadden is available with our pick (and he will be if we pick #1) then I think it is a no-brainer to take him. What we currently have at RB is good. The Jones/Barber combo gets the job done. However, adding a GREAT RB to an all-ready good offense with superbowl aspirations comes along once in a life time, and when it does, you jump all over it.

With that said, we DO have other options if McFadden isn't picked by the Cowboys. I would like for the Cowboys to get a great RB, and there are two others, Slaton and Rice, that I think have the ability to be great. They won't go as high as McFadden, so we might be able to get one of them with our regular pick and spend the Cleveland pick on a shutdown corner like Malcolm Jenkins. We need a playmaker in the secondary and he is truly that. I agree that I am not really too concearned with WR at this point and we can find good WR talent in rounds 2-4.

i'm just wondering how many people are going to build up mcfadden and make him a "must have" long before we know if it's true. then if we don't take him, sign turner and work on the sieve of a secondary, how many will hate jones because they didn't take their favorite player they fell in love with long ago?

then they come back in here saying jones is a fool for passing up on mcfadden because you picked him a year ago. back when our needs for a year from now are not known. : )

yes, it is to each their own but i wish draft talk would stay in the draft forum and i'd promise to stay out of there cause of my own stance on it. but having to wade through

FRYE JUST THREW AN INT!!! HERE COMES THE NUMBER 1 PICK!!!

is tiresome and i just get bored/aggrevated with a blow by blow to fantasyland given there's a whole year to play and 1 play doesn't make or break where we'll fall in the draft and which pick we'll get.

if we're a game or two away from the end of the season "projections" make a lot more sense and *to me* that's when it gets fun. projecting that now just seems to be a setup to disappointment cause your "fantasy" didn't pan out.

It's like you and bbgun are the same poster sometimes. Except you're more childish.

I've seen you do this in many threads, on many subjects. I decided to speak up. Sorry that chaps your hide. It's a forum - if I walk into a McFadden thread - I expect to see McFadden posts. Not iceberg crying about McFadden threads.

how strong of a draft is it supposed to be for CBs? that usually helps dictate whether or not you go FA or draft.

If there's a good FA CB, we should go after him, as long as the price doesn't get to high. This years CB class is averege, maybe worse unless the juniors come out. Antoine Cason and Dwight Lowery seem to be the top Sr. CBs, but I think both could slip into the 20s if the Jrs come out. Malcom Jenkins-Ohio ST. and Justin King-Penn ST. could go in the 10-15 range, but I doubt any CB goes top 10 unless a team is desperate.

At this point it's my opinion atleast 2 QBs will go before the first CB (Brian Brohm, and Andre Woodson/Colt Brennan/Matt Ryan/John David Booty), 1 RB maybe 2 (Darren McFadden and Steve Slaton/Ray Rice), 1 WR (DeSean Jackson), 2 OT (Sam Baker, Jake Long), 2 DEs (Calias Campbell/Quentin Groves/Tommy Blake 2 out of this group), Glenn Dorsey at DT, and Kenny Phillips at S.

So if the juniors come out, I go BPA with the first pick and either trade up or down to get a CB at a good value

but what if 2 plays later he throws a 70 yard TD? are we now picking 10th with their pick? looking ahead to who *could* be a cowboy *is* fun. but when the thread is "mcfadden is a cowboy because frye sucked today!" to me isn't the same.

i'd love to get into some possibilities where we leave the door open, not direct activities to 1 player.

we could need a DT now.
we could need some CB help now.
RB could be filled with Turner if we so chose.
barber is stepping up and jones is falling back. maybe barber can be "the man".
is WR still an issue? doesn't look like it *right now*.

i'd love to talk about the CBs to keep an eye out on, and some NT's who are 1st round worthy and may go in the top 10. that's a big difference than

frye sucks we'll get mcfadden. that ignores an entire year taking place before we know how mcfadden, the cowboys or any other college player does.

you'd see me all into the 1st type of threads in a "positive" way. i'd love to talk CBs and know who to keep an eye on all year long. same for the other positions we have needs for coming up. but we're going to have a lot of needs and they're likely to change through the year so spending the pick before we get it on a player we may not need or want - 'eh, i just don't get it totally.

i see the speculation and like i said, i'd love to speculate some too. but not play by play as if the ultimate deciding factor but moreover game by game how are some of the real possibilities looking?

it just seems people are on a mcfadden or bust trip and no, i don't get that.

I want McFadden if he is there I don't see this as a McFadden or bust mindset. I admit I would love to have a stud RB touching the ball 20 to 25 times a game. Dallas has 2 1st rd in a draft that has 4 very good RB I would hope we will be able to get one as well as bringing in a CB

the ranch report?

1.

if i'm getting blamed for more people are just stupid (which is possible over there) because i never post there. i've got my small group and i've got this big one - no need for more.

and i got banned because someone took pics we posted here from my site (given credit here) but didn't give credit back and i went in to say that and got called out and banned.

that was that.
