I’d look to extend Steele this off-season, but they’ve gotta get SOME kind of concession for extending him early…..

I wouldn’t break the bank for McGovern. He is having a good season, but was pure garbage a year ago. Inconsistent I believe they call that. He could just as easily revert back and I’d be careful.

I don’t want to cut Tyron anyway so Tyler is my LG, but then again it’s tough to have a capable, cost controlled LT and not use him there.

I don’t think Jerry is ready to part with Tyron just yet. Zeke either but that’s not for now.

Connor McGovern is a UFA after this season.

Steele is a RFA after this season, UFA after next season.

Biadasz is a FA after next season.

What would your approach be to signing these three players? I think all three have stepped up their games this year. McGovern is probably the odd man out, but Biadasz has played well enough to at least warrant a discussion about resigning him this offseason before he hits free agency. Same w/ Steele obviously.
Forget about McGovern as several others believe he will get Connor Williams type of money on the open market. Believe the other 2 will be resigned

Biadasz is not going to cost a lot. we do need to draft another center and groom...

Steele is a must signing. time to let tyron walk perhaps.

McGovern.... hmmm, if he is cheap, why not, at least experienced depth. if he is not, then see ya, time to draft another one.

I might keep Biadasz. I don't have much interest in the other two. If McGovern would come back cheap as a C/G backup then okay.

Put it this way the run game starts with the center so trust me folks Biadasz is no Travis Frederick.

I don’t miss Connor Williams. I doubt I would miss McGovern either

I would like all of these OL re-signed or extended because they're young and improving into good NFL starters. I think McGovern is gone after this season, the Cowboys will draft a OG or ride with Farniok or both. Steele n Biadasz will be Cowboys will see a 2nd contract.

As always in free agency it depends on how much they want. Next year McGovern is up for a new contract. But I am guessing Steele will be back to play RT and Tyler Smith will move to LG. Tyron Smith will move to LT. In this case McGovern would be a backup and fullback on occasion. Plus Matt Farniok and Matt Waletzko will be back from injury so they, and Ball, will provide some depth. They have Alec Lindstrom for additional depth at C. I am betting McGovern will go somewhere to play, not sit on the bench.

I am sure they will tender Steele at a second or even 1st round pick, although he will be coming off injury so maybe they just make it a 2nd.

In 2024, They have to do something with Biadasz and Steele. I think we will want to see them move on from Tyron Smith too, he is also a free agent in 2024. 2024 is the year they have to get some reinforcements for the OL. I can see a 1st round draft pick for the OL in 2024. Again, we have to see how they play in 2023, and how much they want in 2024. Keep in mind, Dak's contract is up after 2024 and he will want more money in 2025. There is also the new TV contracts resulting in a much higher CAP. That I will have to see before I count on it.

CeeDee and Diggs are also free agents in 2024. It is going to be a tough year for Dallas in free agency. I think they will lose a key player or two because they will be unwilling or unable to match contracts offered by other teams.

It is 100% ok to have conversations about what kind of salary it would take to keep them. I'm against any making top dollar, none are worth it. Let them test free agency and see what offers they get, then counter. If they want to goto a crappy team just to make a little more, let them. If they get offered a stupid contract like watson got then let them go, good for them.

I am glad somebody said this about Steele.:hammer: Supposedly they offered him a deal earlier in the season but his agent (sound familiar) wanted to wait until free agency. The Cowboys should just let all three of those guys go in free agency.
I agree that individually none are must haves, but I disagree strongly with letting them all walk. Replacing 3 starters is a tough task, and can take away from resources (draft picks/FA dollars) needed to fill spots in other areas.

These aren't going to be top of the market, huge contract guys, so why not try to work out a deal with some of them rather than being stuck trying to replace 60% of the O-Line?

Tender Steele
Offer McG a reasonable deal - 4 year top 15 guard money whatever that is
Biawhatever - let walk unless he signs a below market value contract

Steele is a RFA at the end of this year, UFA at the end of next year.

He'll be tendered at the very least this offseason, IMO either a 2nd or 1st round tag. I think it would be wise to lock him up to a 3-4 year deal this offseason.

I think they let McGovern explore free agency. Biadasz I could see re-signing, but only if it's a fair rate.
Good post.

I would add the Cowboys need to keep drafting at least 1 top rated OL in the first three rounds every draft.

I believe Steele and Badacz will remain with the Cowboys long term. I just think both can be replaced with cheaper alternatives by 2024. Let’s see how the draft plays out. If the can get another young tackle in the 2nd/3rd round the Cowboys will jump at the opportunity. The Cowboys have to pay big salaries for Parsons, Diggs, and CeeDee. They have to cut corners somewhere.

Again, I don't see a big expense with either of these guys. Obviously probably more than with a draft pick (unless a 1st rounder), but still not a high price, especially given that the Cowboys will have other needs those draft picks could be used on.

A look at possible needs.
OT: Depth could be a problem even with Steele since Tyron Smith may retire any time, and injury seems to always be looming. Peters may retire too
RB: It will be hard to keep both Pollard and Zeke, so a RB may be needed.
LB: LVE may end up too costly to keep, and Barr is only on a 1 year deal
OG: If McGregor walks we will need an OG
CB: Depth has been an issue after a couple of injuries and Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis only have 1 and 2 years left on their contracts.

With this, and other issues likely to arise over the next year, I don't see why we would create more issues unless the price tag was prohibitive, which, again, I don't think will be the case with these guys.

If we had drafted Creed Humphrey instead of the rapper, we would be letting Biadasz walk.

Biadasz has taken a definite step forward and has room to grow some more so he would be priority one
McGovern can walk to be blunt; and I think he will get an offer the boys do not want to match anyway
Steele I am willing to sign a good contract but not anywhere near top dollar. Him being injured gives the boys some options; tender him this year depending on what his agent demands
HE has gotten better than I thought he could be; but he is still a middle of the road RT and we can do better; and we need to draft another tackle anyway for swing.
