Connor McGovern is a UFA after this season.

Steele is a RFA after this season, UFA after next season.

Biadasz is a FA after next season.

What would your approach be to signing these three players? I think all three have stepped up their games this year. McGovern is probably the odd man out, but Biadasz has played well enough to at least warrant a discussion about resigning him this offseason before he hits free agency. Same w/ Steele obviously.

Mcgovern good riddance. Biadasz I would let play out another season. 99% of the fans on here were dead wrong about him, but he isnt good enough to where you have to resign him early. Steele I would try to resign him as we might get a nice discount coming off knee injury.

Wasn’t Steele undrafted? If so, how does that affect the tender?

I think Steele would be harder to replace at the same or similar level for the same money. OTs tend to be pricey.

I don’t know how the tenders go, but what are the options on the tenders? If someone were to take Steele for a second round pick, I would be inclined to ship him out and replace him with a cheap high round rookie draft pick.

You don’t need five all pro’s. You just need 5 guys and a swing ot who are a cohesive unit. I keep them all.

McGovern is going to depend on what they do with Tyron Smith.

If they bring Tyron back, he is your LT and Tyler is your dominant LG.

If they take the cap savings and cut Tyron, they will probably make an effort to retain McGovern.
To add to this McGovern is a much better RG then LG (better game tape and has vocally said on multiple occasions that he's way more comfortable playing right side) so his value will be much higher to a free agency team that actually wants to play him at RG.

Cowboys probably want to pay LG price on him (below average, good depth piece) where another team might pay him above average starter price to play RG

What sucks about Steele is we will miss him all next season most likely.
Exactly. A healthy Steele would be a top priority. A guy coming off an ACL|MCL occurring late in the season?

You have no idea what you are signing and even if a full recovery, when do you start getting that production?

McGovern and Biadasz are above average players. I keep them on reasonable deals

Steele would be the guy I want to keep most
McGovern is an above average player? I totally disagree. Biadasz is also a little below average, but he clearly is getting better and actually I guess I’d call him average already with the potential to be better than average. But replacing McGovern would make us a better team and thus I can’t call him average let alone above average. Steele, unlike these two IMO, has the potential to be really good. Very excited to see how he continues to improve and very happy with how he has so far. He has come a long, long way since being thrown into the starting lineup as a UDFA.

I think McGovern is most likely gone. He'll get a better offer than we'll make because he's not as high a priority as the other two.

Steele is a RFA at the end of this year, UFA at the end of next year.

He'll be tendered at the very least this offseason, IMO either a 2nd or 1st round tag. I think it would be wise to lock him up to a 3-4 year deal this offseason.

I think they let McGovern explore free agency. Biadasz I could see re-signing, but only if it's a fair rate.

I agree. Cowboys will be drafting a C-OG in the top three rounds this draft. Would definitely want to keep Steele on a deal, and Biadasz on fair deal. McG can be replaced by someone either on the PS or rookie. Wonder if Lindstrom on PS can push for C next year? I had high hopes for him when they signed him.

Hope we can keep Steele longterm.

No Steele? Martin said he's the best run blocker he's played next to. Also, all we hear about him is that he's a nonstop worker. Plays through the whistle every play. I think he definitely warrants getting locked up now before we have to bid with other teams.
Agree 1000%

Replacing McGovern is the quickest way to improve the OL. He can’t anchor on power rushers and isn’t great pulling.

Steele is a must sign, imo. He should be relatively cheap for his skill level and knows the scheme. However, you HAVE to bring in a real swing tackle in case he’s not ready to go or suffers lingering issues.
It ground my gears we did not sign a swing tackle last off season.

Priorities for me would be:
  1. Steele
  2. Biadasz (cheap)
  3. McGovern (also cheap)
I think we found a good one in Steele and he’d be the one I’d pay significant money for.
Steele being an OT is the hardest to replace too
