NO ONE CALLING EAGLES ABOUT MCNABB

Posted by Michael David Smith on April 2, 2008, 4:55 p.m.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid says he has not heard from a single team showing interest in trading for quarterback Donovan McNabb.

And although Reid hasn’t completely ruled out trading McNabb, he doesn’t sound like he expects it to happen. Peter King of SI.com reports that when Reid was asked whether he would trade McNabb if he “got a ridiculous offer,” Reid answered, “No,” and then paused and said, “Probably not.”

Reid did say “probably” instead of “definitely,” so this is not the last time we’ll hear speculation that the Eagles will trade McNabb. But they appear set to go into another season with McNabb as the starter.

As for the No. 2 spot, which belonged to A.J. Feeley last year, Reid said of 2007 second-round pick Kevin Kolb, “he’ll compete for that spot this year in training camp.”

Reid also said he disagreed with some players, including McNabb, who have said the Eagles need to acquire more playmakers.

“I think we’ve got pretty good playmakers where we’re at,” Reid said.

Well, I don't know if they are serious or not but if they did intend to consider trade offers, Chicago would be idiots not to try and aquire him IMO.

You say this because it is SOOO BAD over there that they can only get better right?

Or do you think he can lead THAT team?

A little of both IMO. Offensively, they are horrible and it's because they don't have a QB. Every defense loads them up against the run. Good QB play would help that a great deal IMO. If you take a look at there offense, it's really not bad. They have Booker, Loyd, Olsen and Benson at the skilled positions. Booker and Loyd are pretty decent WRs IMO. Olsen is going to be one heck of a TE and if you can provide a threat in the passing game, that's going to do wonders for Benson. On the OL, they have Beekman, who's going to be pretty good, they have Garza, Tait, Kruetz and St. Clair. They could probably stand to add a good young OT but they have talent on the OL. Defensively, they are pretty good if they don't have to play 4 quarters of football every week.

Plus, he's a local guy so Chicago would fit well for him. Probably never happen but if the opportunity presented itself, I'd think that Chicago would be a real good place for him.

I don't love him either but in view of what Chicago has to work with at QB, they would be stupid not to consider it.

I guess so. In a situation such as the one we are discussing (which I don't see happening), I kinda see it in the same light as Washington bringing in Doug Williams years ago. Right kind of QB to go with your offense and who knows. Maybe lighting strikes. Then again, if your at the epicenter of the strike, well, you know.

:laugh2:

McFlubb isn't going anywhere.

But if Kolb starts looking good in preseason you will hear more of this.

Gary Cobb reported recently that Reid wants to TRADE UP in the draft from their #19 to get that Vandy OT(?Chris Williams?). Of course, Lito will likely be part of this deal assuming they're able to trade picks with someone else.

No-McNabb was never going anywhere to being with-but assuming Reid REALLY wants this Vandy kid, and, let's say, a team like the Bears say "No McNabb-No our #10ish", then there's a PRETTY good possibility Reid may end up selling himself out.

Again, no-don't think McNabb will go, but there's been surprises EVERY year in on draft day. Remember all the shock and awe among us Cowboys fans when we though Stephen Jackson was in our laps, only for Boomer to say at the last minute, "Dallas trades OUT of the 1st round and gives their pick to Buffalo!". I was livid at that time.

You know even though I hate the Eagles it must be pretty crappy for Eagles fans to have to go through some sort of saga, involving McNabb, everytime they turn around.

Well-It was REID who started all this broo-ha-ha by trading out of the 1st round last year to get some unknown from southern TX.

Especially with all the saga we're currently going through the LAST TWELVE years, why do we have to feel sorry for them?
