17. Dallas Cowboys - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix* S Alabama
Analysis: The Cowboys' biggest need area is their pass rush (they ranked last in the NFL in sacks per pass attempt), but it might be reaching at this point to draft a D-lineman like Missouri's Kony Ealy or Pitt's Aaron Donald. But safety is also a clear position of weakness -- particularly in coverage -- and the best one in this class is Clinton-Dix. He doesn't have elite man-to-man coverage skills but has good range in zone and is an aggressive, efficient run supporter. Safety is becoming a more important position in the NFL with the increased usage of spread formations, bigger wide receivers and athletic "F" tight ends.

16. Baltimore Ravens - Eric Ebron* TE North Carolina

17. Dallas Cowboys - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix S Alabama
Analysis: Defensive line could also be a pick here, as the team has some age concerns up front, but safety is a major area of need. The Cowboys could use a free safety with range, good instincts and experience who can come in and play right away. Clinton-Dix provides the added bonus of being able to help out closer to the line of scrimmage. While he's great in single high, you can bring him up and he won't shy away from contact.

I have no problem with drafting a safety in the first rd but in this scheme our FS has to cover a lot of ground and range is very important.

Well, this kid has that. He has all the natural ability you could want in a Safety. He will need to get stronger for the Pro game but I think he's going to run very well and I also think he's going to show some lateral quickness and some coverage abilities. He just needs more experience. He was a RB and a CB, I believe, in HS. He was moved to Safety later so I think there might be a bit of an experience curve there but he's a guy, at 6'1" 205 lbs that can physically cover the field and play man to man.

McShay has Mike Evans going #10 to the Lions.

Kiper has him going #13 to the Rams.

Right, but this says they both have him as WR TEXAS. Evans plays for TAMU.

It says Texas A&M in the actual article.

Also, I would swear that the original post had it as Texas A&M a few minutes ago and now it's just Texas.

Good thing it's February because those mocks are both horrible. Cooks from Oregon St is good but not a first round player this year, he's only 5'7" and not Tavon Austin athletic.

Didn't realize Mike Evans was a high first. I have been hearing that he works out with Dez and that Dez wants him on the team, and that the Cowboys met with him at the Senior Bowl. But I didn't know he would take a 1st round pick. So much for the pet cat.

He's listed at 5'10".

Well he's got a chance then, OSU put out a highlight tape that had his heigth and weight and Im sure it said he was 5'7" or 8". Either way it's early and I've watched some tape of him and came to the conclusion the Jets already have him on their roster his name is Jeremy Kerley.

sounds more like a project. You do not draft projects in the first round. The only time you take a safety in the first is if he is ready to start and shine.

Unless this guy is a future Ed Reed or equivalent then no way
