McShay Mock 4.0 4/1/21

I wouldn't, but I see why you would.

I really have only two concerns about this draft, as a Cowboys fan:

1. That Jerry will trade up by giving up their 3rd round pick or multiple lower picks.
2. That after quarterbacks there is a run on cornerbacks and Surtain and Horn both go in the first 9.

Other than that while he is certainly capable of doing it, I can't see Dallas really screwing up this draft, just too many good players available and too many positions of need on the Cowboys. Just going by any of the "experts" rankings they could better this team....

I see rankings and mock draft all over the place, more so than any other recent years. As in the past 10 plus years, or longer. Usually there is more of a consensus as to the top 50 players.
Maybe because there was no combine for players to solidify that top 50 or 100, as in the past.

Scouts need to really earn their money this year. There will be more and more 2nd guessing around the NFL in a few years about this draft. However, on here, it will start as soon as the pick is in. :muttley:

Sewell is falling. Have heard it numerous places in the last week. No one really knows why but it’s happening. He could absolutely be there at 10 the way it’s going.

To me there are always at least 50 or so solid draft prospects. Not to say some years the 40-50 players aren't somewhat better, or worse, than other years. But with 2 of those picks available, Dallas has to keep them at least. Now would I entertain offers to trade like the no. 44 for a 50 and 60? Depending on who went in the first round, I might. But that's a matter of degree, 60 isn't going to be hugely less of a prospect than 50...

While I want a corner relatively high the value for the top rated LT at #10 to me is just too high to pass on.

I admit I would take Surtain over Sewell.

I think similar to 2017, this corner class is somewhat deep. Now, in hindsight the corner class from 2017 had some duds in round 2 but that's just the way of the draft at times.

I think Sewell at 10 and then a corner/DT/FS at 44 I could live with in this scenario.

Mocks are so dumb.

“well in my mock...”

“who cares, I saw a mock...”

“every mock I’ve seen...”

“So and so was there in 2 out of 3 of my mocks...”

“in my mock, I traded back...”

None of it matters because about the only thing they get right are the first overall pick and even that’s wrong a lot.

I wish draft day would just get here so we can talk about how great we are drafting and I can book my tickets to Los Angeles for next February.

Texan fans have to be sick looking at the draft this year and what could have been.

I think Waddle goes before Smith.

Panthers and Lions are in no-mans land. So close, yet so far.

I don’t think Sewell will be there at 10.

It’s truly incredible just how much the Texans gave up - and the Dolphins will ultimately get - for Laremy Tunsil.

Isn't it every year? Nobody had CeeDee falling as far as he did. One of these top 3 WR will probably slip out of the top 15 that they've all been predicted as going.

Yep, I can't recall any draft where there wasn't a "what????????" moment, or two or three...

Broaddus said he spends too much time on the ground. Not good for a OT.

I feel last year draft and this one have had more elements of surprise because of the circumstances. Don’t get me wrong years past still have shock and awe but you still had an idea where the top 5-10 ranked would land

Dolphins could be the Cowboys of the 2020's, as far as shrew player moves. Probably not to the same degree, I can't see any team getting what Jimmy did for Walker, but who's to say?

I have to think that the Dolphins ultimate haul for Tunsil has to be close to the Walker deal at this point between what they’ve gotten from Houston and then San Francisco.

Meh... Sewell or trade down in that scenario.

Although I do really like Horn.

1. Lawrence
2. Wilson
3. Jones
4. Pitts
5. Chase
6. Smith
7. Lance (Carolina trade)
8. Waddle (Detroit trade)
9. Surtain

10. Dallas - Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina

Jourdan Lewis is back in Dallas, but the Cowboys still want to upgrade the cornerback position opposite Trevon Diggs. Perhaps it's Virginia Tech's Caleb Farley, though his back procedure might cause concern. Instead, I'm tabbing Horn, a speedy and versatile press corner. The Cowboys gave up 34 passing touchdowns last season, so expect them to address that area here -- unless they opt to help protect the $160 million man, QB Dak Prescott, with one of the class's top tackles.

The 3rd rated CB at #10? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::espn::espn::espn::espn:

I agree. I’d take the top offensive tackle vs the second or third cornerback if it came down to it.
yea, the OL used to be gold. now it's just shades of bronze and question marks. my big problem with giving dak all the cash was we have so many other needs and i prefer balance over putting everything into a chosen few.
