McShay's changing view on Tyler Booker

He also had Tet as his 50th rated player.

So he gave Dallas McMillian in his mock draft at 12, but has him the 50th rated prospect.

This guy is struggling to stay relevant. His show is sponsored by Fan Duel btw.

who the hell is todd mcshay.
the cowboys aren't gonna draft a player just because mcshay says they should.
he's another mel kiper wannabe who never will with an over inflated opinion of his own opinion.

whats even more stupid is his partner saying its not crazy that booker is the 2nd off.lineman taken...mcshay didnt object to that.
then on draft night saying they could get a guard at pick 44.
booker aint gonna be the 2nd off.lineman off the board at pick 44.

mcshay couldn't assemble a big board at wendy's.

I did listen to his podcast talking lineman when I was cramming NFL draft podcasts. I believe it was around a week before the draft. HIm and his co-host was pretty rough on Booker. Not that he isn't going to be good, but thought he was more a late first/early second round type pick. He thought he would go earlier though.

BTW they both liked the Ohio State tackle quite a bit. His co-host was really high on him.

It’s easy understand taken in context. The first video taken days before the draft was speaking specifically to Booker as a prospect, not where he should reasonably be drafted.

The second video is post draft commentary re: where Booker was taken in the draft (#12 overall).

It should be noted that in McShay’s last mock before the draft, he didn’t have Booker going in the first round, so it’s no shocker he had issue with him being taken 12th overall.

he said in the first video he will go high...and that whatever gm takes him will sleep like a baby knowing he got a instant starter and a great player.
sounded like he was reasonably convinced booker would be a great pick for somebody.

Ehhh, he is clearly talking about the first round in that first clip and he even says someone will take him higher than expected and get ripped for it but they will be able to sleep well at night. Ironic that he's now one ripping the Cowboys for taking him high.

He's talking out of both sides of his mouth but most of these talking head draft guys are like this.

Mel and McShay suck. Anyone expecting much from either doesn't understand how this works. It's just sports ENTERTAINMENT. It cannot be taken seriously.
Which is why I don't take them too seriously. I had Kenneth Grant as a top 15 player, he went 13. Hairston as a top 25, but I think he went slightly after.

Still, I trust my own evaluation more than these guys. Just because it's like you say. It's entertainment/marketing really.

He didn’t even have him going in R1 in his last mock before the draft, so “going high” in that context could have been in the low or mid-20s.

In fact, in his last Big Board, he had Booker as his #33 player overall.

The outrage would make more sense had he mocked Booker going 10-15 overall and then all of sudden act shocked after he got drafted 12th overall.

Him saying an OG is elite doesn’t necessarily equate to going Top 12 which is how folks are trying to shoehorn it.

It’s almost like half of you are intentionally ignoring his point. He’s not contradicting anything he said in the first video, he’s making a point about Dallas needing offensive skill position players way more than guard at 12 overall. The video was clipped to take him further out of context
