Media manufacturing stories: Cutler for Romo?

Am I alone in being *SICK* of sports media running headlong with nothing in their hand but a fist full of speculation and fantasy??

A sports reporter out of Denver speculated/had in his head/fantasized that Denver should trade Cutler to Dallas for Romo. Skip Bayless says "If I'm Jerry Jones, I make that deal faster than you can say Jessica Simpson!"

First it's "It's all Owens' fault" and now well, Romo's not so good and he should welcome a trade. Please people...

Now it's no secret that I'm a big critic of Romo, but only because I believe in his potential and I want to see that potential realized. There is no doubt that Romo is a better QB than Cutler.

Again, the EGOS which are MOST dangerous to sports today belong to the people in sports media; spearheaded by everybody at ESPN. It's irresponsible and nothing but the equivalent of tabloid trash.

NO more drama in Dallas so they have to make drama out of nothing at all...

I don't believe there is any shot of a Cutler for Romo trade this year or next year or any year. I just don't believe there is any chance that it's actually going to happening.

I'd honestly be pretty ticked if it did happen. I like Romo as our QB way more than I'd like Jay Cutler as the QB.

In 2007, Romo signed a 6 year contract with a $30 mil guarentee.

If we traded him now, we would have to eat a $20 mil salary cap hit.

Now, does anyone still think Romo will be traded?

There isn't a shred of truth to that speculation. Dallas is quite satisfied with Tony Romo.

Wait a second, we've been told that the media NEVER makes up stories or source quotes or reports their speculation as fact. Nope, never happens.

I mean, sure...there was Jayson Blair.

And Michael Finkel.

And Mitch Albom...

Oops.

Yes, but this reporter has sources and reporters never lie or make stuff up or find sources that will just say what they want them to say.

Never.

I thought the whole movement of this offseason is to put the pieces around Romo to succeed. It kinda defeats the purpose if there is no Romo to build around.

I will say this about Cutler; he may not be as physically gifted as Romo, but you can't deny his competitiveness and natural leadership. But there is no chance this trade is going down this year. This rumor may heat up next year if Romo has another rough time down the stretch. Until then, Romo is the man.

Why is it such a problem for him to have an opinion on the situation?

Would you like all media to be just fact and figures.

If so then get in a time machine and go back to 1940.

People trashing the media because they don't like when the writers have an opinion is silly. Why?

Because you are on a message board sharing your opinion!

Relax. It's just media.

Hmmmmm.

Stop acting like the big bad media is out to get everyone.

And why do the same people whine and cry about the media over and over again only when it's something they don't want to hear.

It's so tired.

I thought you were a Quinn jock sniffer? What happened? Did you lose faith in the punk that got b-slapped by one of his teammates?

So you like Dragnet huh?

Bored much?

And what would you like to hear about right now regarding the Cowboys?

Last season. People will say the media is bringing up old news.

The draft. They are, but it's still more than a month away so why get it all out now?

The roster. How many more articles do you want on Keith Brooking?

Jerry Jones. He hasn't said anything in a few days. Can't a man have a minute to breath?

Terrell Owens. Go to Buffalo.com.

Tony Romo. He's working with Roy Williams at Valley Ranch.

A football game. Call me in August.

If the media worked how you wanted it to work we would not here talking about the Cowboys. This would be a ghost town.

lol.....

That fat turd was jealous that a QB was repping more weight on the bench than he was at 100 pounds less.

Brady is the truth and will win a playoff game before Tony (I hope not). Tony has the leadership qualities of a tick and for as much as he wows us with his (escapability) , he is a fumble/INT/poor decision waiting to happen.

Cutler has extraordinary physical gifts. Moreso than Romo. He has one of the best arms I've ever seen.

I would certainly deny his leadership. Leaders don't whine to the press like a spoiled first grader that didn't get his way. He's the last thing the Cowboys need in their dysfunctional lockerroom.

For every criticism I've made of Romo, I'd amplify it two-fold for Cutler. IMO, he doesn't have it upstairs.

Love how some here still try and defend the media. Liars and crooks and con men. And those are the ones that are halfway competent.
Someone here really sets the bar low anymore....

No one has said reporters never lie. That's a creation of his imagination.

And it's a way to cast possible doubt on the stories which came from Valley Ranch this past season. Even though almost every media outlet, Jerry Jones, players, front office personnel, etc., confirmed the stories one way or the other, posters still want to cry the media fabricated stories. Pulease.

As for this issue, the media deal in speculation. That's why you see the Culter-Romo scenarios. They're just random speculation, kind of like mock drafts. Why people get so bent out of shape over speculation is beyond me.

And we're all thankful you're not responsible for any decisions this team makes. Even your fellow Romo basher eploco can see that his trade would make no sense. But good for you for staying true to your Romo bashing!
