Has anyone ever requested and received a media pass to a Cowboys game/function?

Yes, I emailed Rich Dalrymple for a pass for this upcomming season and he said to get back to him during training camp and he might be able to get me into a pre-season game on a regular season game. I tried two years ago when I was the Editor of my college paper and was turned down.

I was just wondering, since I'm going to the HOF enshrinement, thought I could get better access for better pictures. Of course, I would post here to share with everyone.

Are you owner of the forum?

Unfortunately, the Dallas Cowboys seem to have little interest in fan sites.

That being said, we have contacts within the Dallas Cowboys organization, but no one should be "claiming" to represent CowboysZone.com without our permission beforehand.

They are impossible to get. The Cowboys already have to accomodate many members of the media and probably turn down others considering they have an old stadium without a state of the art press box. No person off the street can gain media access to an NFL game unless they know someone high up in the orginization who approves it. It's impossible. You have to be affiliated with a newspaper, magazine, radio or TV station. Even web sites are turned down for media access.

You have to remember that members of the media use their passes to do there job. They write during the game and interview players afterwards. There's no way any team would allow a fan in the locker room after the game unless it's an unusual situation. In short, you can request a media pass until the end of time but unless you are affiliated with an actual media outlet, you won't get one. That is the policy of all 32 NFL teams.

Nope, just a sports writer with a dream of being able to cover a Dallas Cowboys football game. Hopefully it happens this year.

Of course not, that's why I ask. I really don't know who the owner of the forum and the reason to post to general public.

Don't mean any bad intentions here.

As a member of the media I can help explain this.

The NFL and almost all other pro-sports have very tough rules on how many media credentials can be granted per game. The teams want to accomodate everyone they can but there is a pecking order. The National media and major local tv, radio and print outlets get first priority. Then comes the out of town media that consistanly covers the Cowboys or whatever team. The out of town media is granted access based on market size and proximity to Dallas. So basically once the Dallas media is taken care of then comes Ft. Worth and then the rest of the Dallas suburbs that have legitimate media outlets. Then comes places like San Antonio, Austin, Lubbock, El Paso, Wichita Falls, Tyler etc....

Usually all of those places eat up the total media credential allotment and there is no more more room for aditional passes to be granted.

Don't give up.

Pick a game that won't have as many media requests.

If there is a member of the team or the organization that has ties to your area, it's important to focus on that when writing your request. Tell them that this is an opportunity to feature this player/person in their local paper, etc.

And you might consider talking to Brett Daniels. He works under Dalrymple, but he seems to be a little more accommodating.

Nobody is baggin on you bro. Folks just wanted to make sure that not everyone was out there stating they represented the Zone w/o going through the proper channels. Those proper channels being pretty much...Reality himself.

I believe you forgot to mention the media who covers the opposing team. When the Cowboys play the Giants, the NY Post, Daily News, Times and Newsday among others like the Giants web site and Giants radio and TV stations are all granted media access for the game as well.

I have been to Texas Stadium when our coach used to coach someplace else. It's a dump compared to most stadiums because of its age but I have a feeling that will all change in 2009. Just a hunch.

It doesn't matter who you talk to. It's not about being accomodating. It's about how the NFL teams issue passes. Your only chance is to call Jerry Jones to be perfectly honest. He's the only one who has the power to do anything for you.

It's a shame really especially when you consider the relationship between the Washington Commanders and ExtremeSkins.com. Unfortunately, a lot of that starts at the top and when you have older team owners, they seem to put less priority, money and consideration into the internet beyond what they "need" to do for their own web site.

Exactly! We are always open to having fans who go to training camps, games, etc. represent the site. This leads to practice photos, game photos, news, rumors, etc. which is great for all Cowboys fans, not just the ones on this site.

The main concern I have is when someone claims to represent the site without asking first because that could lead to a lot of problems.
