Can't have it both ways. You want to be famous and make a ton of money? That's the trade off. You want to be able to go out and be a normal person? Get a regular job like other folks.
Yet, sometimes fame and money do not come hand-in-hand, and you're still screwed. Take Steven Bartman, for example. A lapse of judgment made him instantly famous to the point that many Chicagoans wanted to lynch him. Add the incessant, nationwide media coverage and you have a case of a guy who not only dreams of being normal, but who also wants near complete anonymity. Fame is sometimes heaped upon you against your will.

No question that the media and paparazzi go over board, a lot of the times. However, the celebrities themselves (and this applies to most hollywood celebrities than athletes) use the paparazzi to advance thier careers.

At the same time, there are plenty of celebrities, both actors and athletes, who have managed to keep thier private lives very private.

I agree which is why I 1st indicated "I can understand some frustration" Do people go over board with celebrities? Yes I have seen it 1st hand during training camp in Austin. Troy Aikman would get mobbed by fans wanting his autograph and when he would not sign something these people would get down right rude to him. I would hear these people claiming how Troy was such a jerk for not signing some card or a ball. Fans of celebrities just get carried away at time and even though these people are in the public eye they are still people. As for the paparazzi most celebrities do not have issues with them taking photos but when they are claiming over the walls around your home or chasing you down as your driving I would consider that getting carried away.

I don't agree, WG. If he's dating some Boston-area stockbroker, no matter how gorgeous she is, it's not going to be national news like when he's impregnating famous actresses and models. :)
It is a bit titillating (sp?) isn't it?

Brady is catching a little heat for being a media darling who made an oopsie. No one would blame him for trading one model for a newer version if he hadn't locked his keys in the older one.

Even still, he's still not getting it as much I thought he would.

I disagree. I think some do cross the line when dealing with Celebrities they are people and that does not change no matter how much you make or what you do for a living.

Brady loves the part of being a celeb that gets him in bed with models. But he doesn't like the other, less pleasant parts. He wants all the benefit with none of the drawbacks.

He's the one in a million guy who happened into fame by accident. That hardly speaks to the Brady issue since he chooses to be in the public eye.

I'm not talking about Brady but celebs in general and how people media and fans alike can go over board. Yes they are in the public eye and so a lot of attention wanted and unwated goes along with it but I do think the media and fans cross the line and have seen many examples of it.

3 time SB champ, 2 time SB MVP, 4 time pro bowler, and supermodel raw dogger.

A real american hero, if there ever was such a thing.

I think Brady has chosen NFL football as his current profession and wants the commensurate dollars he's earned by being a key contributor to his organization's success. Just like most of us.

In the same way, I think he also wants to shoot the moon in seeking satisfying personal relationships. Just like most of us.

I don't think that necessarily means that he wants to be famous. Of course its a by-product of success in his profession but it doesn't mean he necessarily wants it to be that way.

I also don't think his success or fame should force him to submit to any invasion of privacy that isn't stipulated as part of his contract. Just because a result is predictable doesn't mean that result is an obligation on his part nor entitlement to those who would benefit from it.

Just because its difficult to retain privacy with his level of fame doesn't mean he can't try. Some have even had a certain level of success in that pursuit I suspect.

I don't think there are very many of us who wouldn't react just like Tom Brady has and seek to have our cake and eat it too. It may be difficult but he has every right to pursue it.

I can understand some frustration Celebrities have. You’re trying to have dinner and people will not leave you alone as soon as you ask them for some privacy the person gets upset with the Celebrities. Emmitt Smith talked about this when he was with Dallas as he and his girl friend at the time (Now wife) would constantly be disturbed while at restaurants by those seeking autographs and of course the people who would spot him and follow him as he would be driving home. I would think this would creep out most of us. Yes these people are in the public eye but they are still people who deserve some amount of privacy or should I say common courtesy.
Courtesy, yes. But since when is it hip to show courtesy or common sense in the Golden Age of Bling? That is what's driving a lot of people out there, wanting their piece now. And unfortunately that sometimes means a piece of their favorite star, so the media gladly oblige.

Changing that is no simple matter; the big income difference has a lot to do with it, as well as the air time.

There's a lot of idol worship out there, and by this time, anyone getting into professional sports or the entertainment business has a wealth of information on what can happen. If they want to be outraged at it, well the rules rarely change based on the current hot topic.

Notice lately how everything nationally is about other athletes and not our favorite lightning rod?
