Actually, after that TCU win today, he's the one who will need consoling.

Hey Juke..still laughing over the 'my end of the boat is high and dry" photo. :p:

Funny thing...I've learned to speak in images at work...it leaves a lasting impression..so if a job has been screwed up and I talk to the staff, if someone says something like, "It didn't happen in my department" I'll always say, "Yep, you must be relieved that it's the other guy's side of the boat that is sinking"

I don't have to say it much anymore.

That's kinda the situation here...sometimes people have such an interest in being right that they lose the big picture; the success of the team. The Romo/Henson debates always remind me of "Ha, I told ya I was right. Your side of the boat is sinking."

:)

That pic was a composite of three others.

Where are you from originally and where do you live now? Hong Kong, but now Saskatchewan, Canada.

Occupation? Industrial Management

Favorite Current Cowboy? Dat Nguyen. Despite lacking all the measurables he has turned into a player.

Favorite retired Cowboy? Randy White. Controlled rage and quiet victory - you couldn't ask for a more selfless player. Showed what a bonehead a guy like Mark Gastineau was.

Favorite Cowboy moment? Ties between Tony Dorsett's 99 yard run because it was so unexpected and the first Super Bowl victory. I didn't know what the Super Bowl meant, but I learned in a hurry.

What NFL player would you add to this team? Adam Vinatieri. Defence may win games, but getting points from 55 yards and in would probably win more games than any defensive player. From my limited knowledge it's the numbers on the scoreboard that matter when the gun fires off.

Favorite non-Cowboys NFL team? The SeaHawks. Decent management, they don't deserve the mediocrity they have endured over the years.

Team you love to hate? I just don't like the Commanders. Their logo, the colours of their uniform, guys dressed up as pigs and definitely not Joe Theismann. I didn't mind Doug White because of all the years he had to suffer at the hands of the Bucs.

Favorite song of all time? Two, "Dancin Cheek to Cheek" Ella and Louis - met my wife in a commuter tube in Europe and we took a spin to that song. And "Cover of the Rolling Stone" because drunk guys with lousy voices can sing to this song and sound okay thanks to Dr. Hook.

Favorite Movie? American Beauty - hauntingly poignant.

Favorite read, any book/magazine/website? Velveteen Father. If you have kids it's a very good read. Warning! The couple is gay if you have problems with that.

You secretly admire … : People on this website who volunteer to lessen the burdens of others. Military members who serve abroad, the people who are heading to N.O. to help with disaster relief and the mods who run an excellent site. They get nothing in return, but they provide alot for many.

If you were in the NFL you would play which position? Water Boy. Properly prepared H20 is the secret to good football. Don't laugh, the Eagles beat us because they had pickle juice.

Any addictions you wanna admit besides the Dallas Cowboys? Work. If I'm not working then I'm skulking around here.

Favorite place to vacation? Wherever the wife and kids are. I've had two vacations in 10 years with the family. They have gotten sick of it and go on their own now. I try to meet them every so often.

Worst place on the planet? Incinerary oven in Wisconsin at America's largest chicken farm. That place was god awful! Next, Bangladesh it's N.O. every spring when the floods come.

CowboysZone poster you seem to have most in common with is? Hostile, He's tall and looks to be of European descent, I'm a short Asian guy. How much closer can you get.

If we had a CowboysZone Survivor game who would win(i.e. not get voted off)? AdamJT13 because he would beat us mercilessly with stats and we would all leave.

What features could we add here at this site to make it even better for you? Archive all Cowboy games and make them available to all paying members at the push of a button. That's worth at least a sizeable membership fee.

Would you wear t-shirts, hats or use window/bumper stickers with the CowboysZone logo? If the logo would be more subtle and smaller, yes. At this point in time it would be quite a large insignia and I don't think my head or chest is big enough to encompass everything.

Would you be interested in meeting other Zoners in your local area? That would be fun, especially game day. If you guys are willing to come up to Canada I have a six bedroom house here for people to crash in.

Would you be interested in planning a trip to DFW for a game at Texas Stadium? You guys are talking about heaven! If you ever see a small Asian guy bowing down in front of Landry's statue with tears in his eyes, you'll know that Dave has finally made it to a Cowboys game in person. You don't know how lucky you guys are!

Outside of football the person you most admire is? My parents because they never deserved the disaster I was.

What is something we would be suprised to know about you? I kicked a 46 yard FG in Canada in November to win a high school football game. The guys gang tackled me and one guy slapped in the back for congratulations and dislocated my collar bone. I weighed 133 lbs, wore glasses on the field and had earplugs in my ears because the cold wind gave me ear aches. I don't know how I got on the football team???

The one trait that applies to you that you take the most pride in? I'm relentless in achieving a goal and I live to work 24 hours a day. The only reason why I'm not a work today is becasue it's a national holiday here and the province is holding it's 100th birthday. The wife wanted me home, but I snuck into work at 4:00 A.M. today and got back before anyone woke up. That's the trait part, but the pride is my marrying my wife and having kids. It's the only useful thing I've accomplished in my life.

Oh yeah, I'm long winded also!

>CowboysZone Member Name:

SilverBear

>Where are you from originally and where do you live
>now?

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, son of a 20 year Army man... now live in the
Shenandoah Valley of Virginia... in between, I have lived in Germany
twice,
but I call myself a west Texas boy because I did most of my growing up
in
El Paso...

>Occupation?

Currently a night auditor at a businessman's hotel in Winchester,
Virginia... a Wingate Inn... been in the hotel biz for a little over 20
years now... before that, I worked 10 years plus as a golf pro (club
pro)... my Dad was a club pro before me, I kinda followed in his
footsteps
when I quit college...

>Favorite Current Cowboy?

Larry Allen, 'cause he's the best there ever was at what he does... he
ain't a particularly nice guy or a great citizen, but I tend to like
the
very best there is...

>Favorite retired Cowboy?

Two of 'em-- Bill Bates and Walt Garrison... two rather ecletic
choices,
eh?? Shoot me, I have a soft spot in my heart for the overachiever,
and
those 2 define the word...

>Favorite Cowboy moment?

An EASY call-- the Clint Longley Thanksgiving Day game... there's a
story
behind that, but it's a long one, and now's not the time... if you ever
hear it, you'll understand why this is my fave...

Not that there haven't been lots of other semi-favorite moments,
moments of
great pleasure... my first was that late season game in 1960 at the
Giants,
where the Boys TIED their first game... their first ever non-loss, and
my
entire family was goin' NUTS watching it... I was 8 years old at the
time...

>What NFL player would you add to this team?

Peyton, of course... the single most dangerous weapon in the NFL these
days...

>Favorite non-Cowboys NFL team?

Probably the Panthers, I went to a kickoff party just before the start
of
training camp their first season down in Spartanburg, SC (my late
brother
lived there)...

>Team you love to hate?

Philthydelphia Iggles... followed by the Niners, Packers and Skins, in
that
order... it won't take much more BS from the Texans fans for them to
make
this list, bit I'm not there yet...

>Favorite song of all time?

Oh, man... so many, so many...

Jim Croce, Walkin' Back To Georgia (mostly for the incredible guitar
work
of Maury Muelheisen)

Jimmy Buffett, Coast of Marseilles (most beautiful harmonica work I've
ever
heard)

There are two off the top of my head, and I'll bet none of you has ever
heard of either of 'em...

>Favorite Movie?

Braveheart... 2nd favorite, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid... 3rd
favorite, Cool Hand Luke... I've given this one some thought before...
had
no problem with this answer at all...

>Favorite read, any book/magazine/website?

I like anything written by the late John McDonald, known mostly for his
"Travis McGee" series of mysteries... ditto anything by James
Michener...
and good ol' Dan Jenkins, the funniest writer alive today...

>You secretly admire … :

I don't think I secretly admire anybody... if I admire somebody, I tend
to
be pretty upfront about it...

But now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Salma Hayek doesn't know
I
have the terminal hots for her... :)

>If you were in the NFL you would play which position?

Probably RB, maybe safety... built short but wide... low center of
gravity...

>Any addictions you wanna admit besides the Dallas
>Cowboys?

Texas Longhorns, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards, Jack Daniels
(LOL),
anejo, playing my guitar and singing, golf, bowling, bein' a PITA on
the
Internet...

>Favorite place to vacation?

My best vacation by far was 3 weeks in Alaska, I dream of 3 weeks
playing
golf in Scotland... St. Andrews (the Grey Lady), Turnberry, Troon,
Muirfield, Gleneagles, Carnoustie...

>Worst place on the planet?

Easy-- Noo Yawk City... if the good Lord in his infinite wisdom ever
decided the world needed and enema, Noo Yawk's where he'd stick the
nozzle...

Think about it, you know I'm right...

>CowboysZone poster you seem to have most in common
>with is?

Well, I do work really hard at being unique, LOL... there aren't many
with
my taste for a good flame war, and my fondness for playin' the fool
every
once in a while, and my passion for good, serious football discussions,
and
my draft mania (and my vulgarity)... even my writing style, mixing
literacy
with a SERIOUS overuse of the ellipse, and the occasional timely lapse
into
West Texas twang...

But the poster who probably comes closest to my style would have to be
Rack, though I seriously hope I'm not perceived as bein' as arrogant as
he
is... not to say I don't like him, understand...

>If we had a CowboysZone Survivor game who would
>win(i.e. not get voted off)?

Well, I wouldn't last a week... but it would probably be somebody like
AdamJT13, who NOBODY disrespects, or one of our Queen Bees
(LaTunaNostra
and WoodysGirl)...

>What features could we add here at this site to make
>it even better for you?

I seriously like it just fine the way it is... it has precisely the
right
level of moderation, I NEED somebody to rein me in from time to time,
and
when these guys step in and do so, they do so while conveying the
impression they like me... I deeply respect that... like the assorted
folks
who seem to have insider info like Dale and BrownSugar and Pittdawg...

And it has all the Cowboys info I'd find on any of the other boards,
too...
I have some fun occasionally over in the Off Topic Zone, where I often
get
a good laugh, and I'm even glad you took the Political Zone off-site...
though I've registered over there, I haven't really even checked it
out...

Nope, no complaints at all... I like everything just fine...

>Would you wear t-shirts, hats or use window/bumper
>stickers with the CowboysZone logo?

You bet your sweet bippy I would... I wear lots of hats and logo-type
shirts anyway...

>Would you be interested in meeting other Zoners in
>your local area?

Sure... I have met a few guys from the assorted boards I've wandered
over
the years, and it was always a nice experience...

>Would you be interested in planning a trip to DFW for
>a game at Texas Stadium?

Well, the truth is I'm pretty po' (not really, the bills get paid
without
too much trouble, but there ain't a lot left over), but one day I'd
like to
see the Texas-OU game, the Texas State Fair and the Cowboys game over
one
long weekend (I have noticed the Boys are always home that weekend, and
I'm
pretty sure it's not a coincidence)...

>Outside of football the person you most admire is?

In the sports world, it would be Jack Nicklaus and Cal Ripken... two
good
men as well as two great competitors...

Outside of sports, probably Jimmy Carter, a very bad President, but a
very
great MAN... his heart is most definitely in the right place...

And Jimmy Buffett... I'd like to get knee-crawlin', commode-huggin'
drunk
with him...

>What is something we would be suprised to know about
>you?

Probably that I'm a really good singer, both because of my voice and
because of my ability to read a song... I'm a picker, too, but I never
pull
my guitar out around REAL players... I learned how to play a little so
I
could accompany myself when I sing...

>The one trait that applies to you that you take the
>most pride in?

I don't pretend to be anything I'm not, either in real life or
online...
that is a matter of pride with me... some folks like me a lot, some
folks
hate me a lot, very few are ambivalent about me...

>What CowboysZone Member do you appreciate the most and
>why?

LaTunaNostra, for draggin' me over here... she came over to what was
then
the SilverStarDigest, and said she was just there to get me to come
over
here... sure am glad I took her advice...

Dale and BrownSugar and Pittdawg for the Insider element... AdamJT13
for
his awesome grasp of the business side of the game... if he says, I
write
it down as gospel, and you KNOW how argumentative I am...

BrownSugar, the board would suck without the feminine touch... she and
LTN
are both terrific girles, and they know their football... gotta love a
girl
who knows more than most guys about football...

And WAY too many to start listing who are just nice guys... heck, YOU
even
qualify on that one... :)

I like to help people overcome their insecurities, loosen up, get over their hangups cause i think it helps free their mind up to enjoy more in life, so im always pushing people to the limits of their comfort zone....but i will always lead the way first by doing something crazy or embarassing so they can see its ok to let down your hair so to speak.

The one trait that applies to you that you take the most pride in?

Im easy to talk to, and i generally make poeple feel good by creating a safe and friendly space for everyone. people open up to me and tell me things they might not tell anyone. you can tell me something really odd or behave in an eccentric manner around me and i'll just say, ok thats cool, as long as your not planning to hurt anyone.
After my divorce i went to a therapist cause i was a little angry, well into the second session he is telling me all kinds of stuff about himself so i start evaluating what he's saying and ask him how he feels about that, and he stops and says wait a minute, why am i telling you this, who's the therapist here. well, i decided i didnt really need that much help with anger management but i did keep seeing him for a while cause it was worth the 60 bucks an hour to play with his head and have fun with him.
