I was the Jets GM. Picking 6th.

I first tried to trade down to between the 10th and 13th spots - but no bites there.
I saw the major need for the Jets was speed and power at the RB position, get another CB for their less than great secondary, replace their center Mangold.
I hit on all the needs just swapping spots in picking up the OL and CB as the level of the players left at my pick spot for OL shifted to the third round.

Here's the way I saw it with the player picked - Got top rated player at 6.
Got a highly rated CB in the second round.
Then crossed my fingers to pick up my OL in the third round.
No 4th round pick

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/LSU_logo.gif Leonard Fournette*, RB, LSU
Height: 6-1. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2017): Top-10 Pick.

2/3/17: In 2016, Fournette averaged 6.5 yards per carry for 843 yards with eight touchdowns. He had 15 receptions for 146 yards as well. Fournette ran well, but his ankle injury held back some of the speed and explosion he displayed as a sophomore. Fournette missed six games because of the ankle injury in 2016, including LSU's bowl game. He flashed his 2015 form when he set a school record of 284 rushing yards on 16 carries against Ole Miss with touchdown runs of 59, 76 and 78 yards. Source from multiple teams feel that Fournette is one of the best prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft. He might fall out of the top five because of team needs.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/USC_logo.gif Adoree' Jackson*, CB, USC
Height: 5-11. Weight: 185.
Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
Projected Round (2017): 1-2.

2/11/17: Jackson put together an electric season for USC with 55 tackles with 11 passes broken up and five interceptions. He also returned two kickoffs and two punts for touchdowns in 2016 along with a touchdown reception on offense. Jackson has given the NFL proof that he is a serious cover-corner prospect for the 2017 NFL Draft. He does have problems with defending receptions over him and gave up a few touchdowns on those kinds of plays.

In the season opener, Jackson had an awesome game against Alabama as he shut down star wide receiver Calvin Ridley. He held Ridley to only two receptions for nine yards on the night.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/LSU_logo.gif Ethan Pocic, G/C, LSU
Height: 6-6. Weight: 307. Arm: 32.63. Hand: 10.13.
Projected 40 Time: 5.39.
Projected Round (2017): 2-3.

2/11/17: Pocic played well overall in 2016. He is an athletic center who is well-balanced as a run blocker and pass protector. Pocic did a nice job of opening holes at the point of attack and was reliable with giving his quarterback time. Pocic isn't a bulldozing interior offensive lineman, but he fires to the second level to hit blocks while being effective on double teams. For the NFL, it would help Pocic to add more strength to create more movement in the ground game and hold up against bull rushers. He had a decent week at the Senior Bowl.

Great job by Risen Star on running this.
Thank you.

To be honest, I did not put nearly as much time into preparation for this years Kiper Invite. I just didn't have a great deal of time to spear this year but, having said this, I did do a little research and that would be a process of speaking with my family. I have several Raiders fans in my family and they were more then willing to talk football if it was Raiders and not Cowboys. LOL.....

Based on those discussions, here is the short list of what I determined the needs of the Raiders are:

MLB
OT
DT
DB
RB

Going into this draft, I did not priorities any of these positions over others. While some are clearly more costly and more difficult to address, I simply focused on available talent at positions of need and tried to take the best talent on my board.

1st Rd:

Raiders interior defense, in general, need help. There is a saying about being strong up the middle and the Raiders are a team who, IMO, need to re-read that saying. Their starting MLB at the end of the season was Perry Riley. Riley is a guy the Raiders signed off the street. Riley immediately came in and became the starter. That's a problem. Riley is probably a guy who needs to be a serviceable short term back up but he's not the ideal starting MLB. Undersized and not great in coverage, the Raiders were lucky to get the games out of Riley they did but certainly, one of the biggest areas of upgrade on the entire team.

1(24) Zach Cunningham OLB Vanderbilt

Foster was the highest rated ILB/MLB in this draft but I actually liked Cunningham better. Foster is a thumper and if that's what you are looking for, then he is your guy but Cunningham, he is highly productive against both Pass and Run. He can atually play all three 43 LB positions (was listed as an OLB), but he can give you pass rush, can scrap and chase and can get into coverage and cover a TE. He just gives you more, in more areas. Cunningham is actually the highest rated LB on my board. You look at the stats from both players, both played in the SEC, Cunningham actually had a better year and he's a true Jr., as opposed to a Sr in Foster. Add him to Mack, Irving and you start developing a pretty good front 7.

2nd Rd:

When you research the Raiders, most analysis suggest FS as the bigger need in the secondary and that does need to improve but I feel as if CB is probably a bigger need. The Raiders took Karl Joseph (who I loved) in the 1st Rd last year. Together with Reggie Nelson, the two collectively had a decent season at Safety for the Raiders. Certainly, FS will have to be addressed but Nelson might be good for another year or so and Joseph will only get better. However, Amerson and Smith, the two starting CBs are players who look to be career backup types. The Raiders took DJ Hayden out of Houston in the 1st Rd in 2013. Hayden has exceptional physical skills and if he developes, he could be one heck of a CB for the Raiders but at this point, he's going into his 4th Season and he has yet to take control of a starting position with the Raiders. He was actually having a really good season at slot before he went inactive with Hamstring Issues but the Raiders did not pick up his 5th year option so there is a real question as to if he will return. This leaves the Raiders with Not much on the Roster at CB.

2(56) Cordrea Tankersley CB Clemson

Tankersley is a a big, physical CB who can lock up off the LOS and play that bump and run type coverage that you like. He fits what they Raiders like at CB. His last two seasons, he has turned in 5 and 4 INTs sesaons so he does understand how to use his body in coverage and he does have ball skills. Tankersley is not the blazing speed guy you covet at CB but he fits a Defensive scheme, he knows how to work well within that scheme and he is a smart player on the field. He fits exactly with the Raiders Defensive philosophy.

3rd Rd:

As I said earlier in this post, I did not go into this draft looking to priorities any one position over another. I took the approach of best player at need positions available. However, if I had decided to do this another way, DT might have been the position I would have targeted earliest. The Raiders Interior DL play was just bad last season. Not really another way to say it. They have some pieces there to work with but I feel like they just don't fit together, IDK. Raiders spent money to bring in Dan Williams and he has done nothing. Ellis has some skills but he is not getting it done either. McGee probably had the best year for them but it was a lunch pail type effort and not really that dominating type of year the rest of the Defense could really benefit from. In a lot of ways, they are just like the Cowboys in that regard, although, unlike us, they have edge players that can make a difference if they can get some improved play from the DT spot. This, more then any other position on that team, can greatly benefit if they can upgrade the play at DT. They do that and I believe they have a chance to field a top 10 Defensive Unit to go with a really good Offense.

3(88) Vincent Taylor DT Oklahoma St.

Carlos Watkins was the guy I really wanted but I could not make any kind of trade work and I couldn't afford to lose picks in later rounds so I didn't pull the trigger and he went a few picks before us. However, Taylor could end up being the better player and I will say that I think Watkins might end up being the best DT in this draft. Taylor makes things happen. Very active, gets penetration, can collapse the pocket or beat his man off the snap. 51 tackles, 31 Solo, 7.5 sacks, 13 TFL in his Jr. year. He had 4 blocked kicks last year. This kid can come off the snap, at 6'3 310 pounds, that ability together with his shorter stature and his weight is going to make him a very tough assignment for anybody. All he needs is to get with a DL coach who can teach him how to keep his pad level lower and he will be a monster. The knock on him is that he plays too high but honestly, he's only 6'3 and he is massively strong. I think this is kind of a weak knock on the guy but doesn't matter. Coach him up and if he learns, he will be very disruptive in the NFL IMO.

4th Rd:

Offensive Tackle was a real problem for me in my draft preparation. I honestly don't love any of the OTs available at the top of my board. This is one of the big reasons I elected to just let the draft come and take the best possible players available at areas of need. There were actually several players that I really liked in the 4th that I passed. The Raiders really need to address OT and unfortunately, I don't think this particular draft is the one to do it in. However, you never know what you might find and be able to develop. Their starting LT, Penn, is 33, going on 34 and Howard, the starting RT (sort of) can't stay on the field. Menelik Watson is the Raiders 2nd Rd pick in 2013 but he has the same issue. He just can't stay healthy to be counted on, at this point. The Raiders would love to see him take hold of that job and own it but he has to do it, plus, he is an FA after this upcoming season and the Raiders will likely not extend him if he can not show that he can stay healthy enough to be counted on. On top of all that, Penn's contract is up the year after and do you really want to break the bank on a 34/35 year old LT who is a pretty good run blocker but just so-so as a pass blocker?

4(119) Julie'n Davenport OT Bucknell

As I said earlier, I just didn't love the options at OT at the top of the draft. Davenport is a small school kid who is raw but who has a ton of ability and some really nice physical traits. If he tests well in the Combine, and I think he might, he is going to go a lot earlier. 6'7 315 lbs, quick feet but teams may not see that. He needs to learn to use his balance and he needs to learn to properly place those quick feet in order to stay on balance. He's raw but his reach and hand size are off the charts. Team Capt., good kid by all reports and he listens to coaching. He has all he needs to become a really good LT in the NFL. He just needs to put in the work an listen to what he is taught. I liked this kid a lot and took him in the 4th because we didn't have a 5th and I could not take Lotulelei, LOL....... I think he might turn out to be a real find for somebody in this draft.

Needs Not Addressed:

The Raiders still have needs at RB (two top backs could both hit FA) and at Safety. I did not elect to draft a RB for a couple of reasons:

1. The draft did not fall in such a way as to allow for the value
2. I didn't feel like there was a can't miss back for the Raiders scheme that was available
3. I believe that the Raiders will sign one of those FA backs. There will also be talent available in FA.
4. This is a really deep draft for RB and I feel as if there is still talent that can be had later or as an UDFA.

I also did not elect to draft a Safety, simply because I felt as if they had just spent a high pick last year at Safety and what they have now is not horrible and should actually get better in the short term. They will also have a chance to improve the position through FA this year.

That's my draft and that is the reasoning I used. Have at it guys......

Atlanta Falcons (Floaty)

2(36) Dan Feeney G Indiana
2(63) Tanoh Kpassagnon DE Villanova
3(67) Zay Jones WR East Carolina
4(126) Jarron Jones DT Notre Dame

Remaining Selections - 5(158), 6(189), 7(221)

Original Selections - 1(31), 2(63), 3(95), 4(126), 5(158), 6(189), 7(221)

Well I went into this thinking two things after the Falcons collapsed in the Super Bowl. #1. Their D-line ran out of gas....strength in numbers. #2. Keep Matt Ryan upright...and the offense rolling.

Now people may look @ my draft and question the overall talent.....but if you breakdown each pick and see how it fits w/in the organization...then you will see how the pieces fit.

Top pick Dan Feeney...May have future pro bowl talent if it weren't for some guy named Martin occupying the RG position. Regardless...he fits the Falcons zone blocking cutback running style to a T.

LT-Martin
LG-Levetri
C-Mack
RG-Feeney
RT-Schraeder

I almost took DE Charles Harris after the Cowboys passed.....but I was pretty much set on solidify the O-line. I really liked the depth the D-line had to offer later. Chris Chester is a free agent. And @ age 34...will probably not be back. So after a small trade down (5 spots) and swapping picks in the 3rd round to move up (28 spots)...I thought it was worth the move. Plus IMO there were really only 2 impact Gs in this draft. Was shocked to have Lamp go right before my pick @ 2/35...because I was contemplating a small trade down again....but once he went off the board...I knew it wasn't time to get cute like Jerry.:)

At the bottom of round 2....I had 4 guys left that I had 2nd round grades on...Tanoh Kpassagnon DE Villanova, Marcus Williams FS Utah, Isaiah Jones WR E. Carolina, Dawuane Smoot DE Illinois. And in all honesty I probably out thought myself.... with the selection of Tanoh Kpassagnon DE Villanova. Knowing what I know now...I probably should have taken Marcus Williams FS Utah...then wait for one of the DEs to fall to me w/ the 3/67 pick I had.

Kpassagnon was my top rated player left....so he was my 2nd rounder. I think if I had taken Marcus Williams I'm pretty sure New England takes Kpassagnon ....so it was either or...and sure enough...I rolled the dice w/ my DE....hoping Williams would slide 3 more picks.

After New England took Duke Riley OLB LSU I knew I still had to sweat it out that Cleveland might take Williams too...And I should have realized that chances are Cleveland wouldn't take a DE since they already took Myles Garrett and Ogbah last year.

When Cleveland took Pat Elflein C Ohio St....I thought I was in the clear. One pick left....SF.

And then it happened....TRADE:banghead:

Only to have New England swoop in from the End of the 3rd round :omg: Giving up a 2018 2nd round pick!!!

Well...that did it. :(

Since I took a DE 3 picks earlier...I took my highest player left. Zay Jones WR E. Carolina

Now some people may question that pick. But look @ the Falcons. Set @ QB. 2 headed Monster at RB...but what if Julio goes down?

My theory...strength in numbers. and by taking another Jones...your taking a strength and making it a bigger strength.

1.Julio
2. Sanu
3. T. Gabriel
4. Z.Jones
5. Hardy

And if by chance Julio were to go down...I think the Falcons would be able to absorb the hit quite better now.

I don't think you find a better set of WRs in the NFL....as a whole unit.

As for my last pick...I was shocked to get him. Jarron Jones DT Notre Dame. Atlanta lost the Super Bowl because it's D-line ran out of gas. Not next season...If I am running the show.

So according to my depth chart....Falcons D-line would look something like this. 9 man rotation...

LDE-Kpassagnon/Beasley
NT-G.Jarrett/Upshaw
DT-Hageman/Jarron Jones
RDE-Clayborn/Reed/Freeney

So there you have it. Would have liked to pick up FS...but it just didn't happen. In a perfect world my draft would have ended up like this....

2(36) Dan Feeney G Indiana (chicago trade)
2(63) Marcus Williams FS Utah
3(67) Tanoh Kpassagnon DE Villanova
4(106) Zay Jones WR East Carolina (chicago trade)
4(126) Jarron Jones DT Notre Dame
5(158) Josh Harvey-Clemons SS Louisville
6(189) De'Veon Smith RB Michigan
7(221) Davis Webb QB Cal

Thanks to everybody that participated.....that was a good run this year. Look forward to next year.

Saints

Round 1 / Pick 2: Jonathan Allen

I had a deal completed wittthe Browns for the #1 pick, but it got overturned due to the picks in he deal. I was negotiating with the Saints also Incase the browns deal fell apart. It did we completed the traded with San Francisco and took Jonathan Allen, who we think is the 2nd best player in the draft. We believe he can play in the 4-3 and 3-4, he is the total package and we think he is a perfect fit for this team.

Round 2 / Pick 44:

We were debating between two players: Christian McCaffrey and Quincy Wilson. We went with McCaffrey as we thought he was the better player and there are more quality DBS in the rest of the draft than RBs.

Round 3 : we traded the pick in the trade up to #2.

Round 4 / Pick 107: Eddie Jackson

EJ is a ball hawk and we need a DB very much. EJ reads the QB well and has good instincts to pounce on an opportunity..

All in all. We had a very good draft, one of the best I may add..

Titans- Tennessee Titans (tm1119)
1(5) Jamal Adams S LSU
1(18) O.J. Howard TE Alabama
3(84) Chidobe Awuzie CB Colorado
3(95) Chad Hansen WR California
4(100) Larry Ogunjobi DT Charlotte
4(114) Howard Wilson CB Houston

Went into the draft picking for an up and coming team that had 2 pretty big flaws to fix. 1) secondary and 2) weapons to help Matiota keep getting better.

Round 1- #5- Jamal Adams. Safest player in the for me. Thought about Solomon Thomas and Lattimore here as well but Adams won out as the safer pick at a position of need. Can be an impact player day 1 for a D that needs it.

#18- OJ Howard- I had a trade offer to @Risen Star to move up from #18 to #14 to take Corey Davis, Risen told me he would have accepted my trade...but he saw it too late and already posted his pick (Davis). Quite disappointed as I really wanted Davis.

Howard ended up as BPA for me after the failed trade up and he also still fills a need as an offensive weapon. Howard and Delanie Walker should cause some match up problems

-I had an early 3rd but traded back for 2 picks...a couple of guys I wanted went right before me so decided to trade back for quantity since I liked the depth left at WR instead of reaching.

- After that I really just went with value picks. Everybody has their own opinion, but I would honestly rank Awuzie, Ogunjobi, and Hansen all as top 75 talents in this draft class. Getting those 3 in the 3rd/4th would be a huge boost to any team. All 3 will contribute early and have good starter potential.

- Wilson was honestly a bit of a panic pick. I had 2 pass rushers ready to go as the pick (Rivers and Bowser) but both went within 5 picks of me. Scrambled looking for someone else before Risen pulled the plug on me and came up with a redshirt Soph 6'1 CB with high potential. I was on a Titans blog that literally listed their top 4 draft needs as CB so no problem double dipping at the position.
he is gonna go round 2 imo, gonna fly up boards

Who's that? Howard Wilson? If so I could see it if he measures over 6' and runs a sub 4.5 40. Forget who, but I saw someone say that had he gone back to school for his red shirt JR year and had a good healthy season he would have been looking at a 1st round grade in '18.

I had the Colts.

My Picks in the draft

15th overall - Ryan Ramczyk T Wisconsin

48th overall- Tre'Davious White CB LSU

78th overall- Joe Mixon RB Oklahoma

111th overall- Derek Rivers DE Youngstown St.

1st of all i already know some will think i reached a little in the 1st but i dont really see a reach. Ramczyk is seen by many as the top OT and a top 20 pick. Andrew Luck would be ecstatic to see the top rated O Lineman being added to his line seeing how he was one of the most sacked and hit QB's last year.

In the 2nd i sat back and let the best player fall to me and i feel i walked away with a legit 1st round defensive talent at 48th overall.

My 3rd round pick is the pick that I know will either cause a high grade or a low grade. I know some highly dislike Mixon as a person and will grade off of something he did when he was 18 years old but i don't see Mixon falling to day 3 in the real draft. Again i got another 1st round talent and Andrew Luck comes to accept him after seeing how versatile an offensive weapon he is. Nothing brings a team together better then winning.

In the 4th i was fortunate enough that the top player left on my board at my pick was an edge rusher which helps fill a big need. Rivers is not only seen as a top 100 talent on many media draft boards but he has even been talked about as a player who could potentially sneak into the end of the 1st round over one of the bigger school rushers like Charles Harris or Takkarist McKinley.

This was very fun, I will absolutely do this again next year. Thank you Commissioner Risen for all the work you put into this.

This was actually a good draft for the Colts. Indy MUST protect the franchise. They need to take a page from the Cowboys and draft offensive linemen high. That team is driven by its offense.

The Mixon pick really is a steal. He protects Luck too. He'll be Luck's Zeke. Let people rant and rave about Mixon's domestic abuse case. I don't see any systemic patterns of abuse. The guy hit a girl that struck him twice. Nothing from that incident suggests that he has a chronic problem beating up women. All it says is that if you hit him, he's not going to stand their and let you hit him again without retaliation. Heck, more than half the population isn't going to let that happen.

I doubt you see a run on Corners early...teams will figure they can get a corner later so why reach.
because its a good class, the 4th best corner may be graded better than the best OT, DE's and CB's will dominate round 1 imo

Cleveland browns

I had a trade lined up, agreed upon and sent into the commissioner for 3 1st round picks and more but we aren't allowed to trade 2019 picks so it was vetoed.
I am unsure how a team is ever gonna trade up in this exercise from 20 to #1 for example if you can't trade 1st roubd picks 2 years out. the points value just cannot work otherwise.

That being said rules are rules so my draft went as follows

1. myles Garrett - best player in draft, fits a need, no brainer, all pro within 3 years. head and shoulders grades out better than any other player
1a teez tabor - need meets value at pick 12, great athletic cb with ball skills.
2 Caleb Brantley - greg Williams new 3t to play alongside Danny shelton inside, shoots gaps and plays in backfield, perfect for new scheme.
2a obi melifonwu - thus guy plays fast, us gonna blow the combine up. will be a better pro than Byron Jones, day 1 starter
3 pat elflein - Cameron erving failed at C, this guy could go late round 1 like tfred did, strong at the point, will help in run game, day 1 starter
4 Taywan Taylor , deep threat with great hands. stretches the field and is a big playmaker, climbing boards fast

solidified my D, dont like the qb's so will rely on a strong D and running game. 2018 is when the browns get their franchise QB in a VERY strong draft class

The points still dont work even if you could go two years forward.
GMs devalue draft picks the further out in time they are, whether we agree or not.
That 2019 1st rounder would be valued somewhere between a current late second to late 3rd rounder.

What is the point of that though? That is a once in a blue moon thing that ever happens in real life (maybe the Cowboys stealing Tony Dorsett from Seattle in 1976).

Might was well do one of those silly mock generator drafts where you get thirty draft choices.

Something like that ruins the integrity of the exercise to begin with.

Just an FYI, I don't grade mocks in this exercise based on how they are able to pull off trades and stockpile picks or some team making some bold move for a blue chipper. Maybe that is just me.

Agree....Don't get the whole Saints trade up to get Jonathan Allen DE Alabama....1. Doesn't fit the Saints scheme. 2. The Saints 2018 #1...is more than likely gonna be a top 10 pick...so why give it away?
