Twitter: Mel will work the draft virtually

(21393) Mel Kiper Being An Idiot For Three Minutes Straight... #MelKiper - YouTube

The one thing I do know is that Kiper couldn't see a good QB if he was looking through a magic pair of Tom Brady sunglasses. This is true to this day. My guess is that he never played a football game in his life. I could be wrong.

To me, it's more about coming from a football family..

Or being around a football environment.

My next door neighbor growing up was a baseball scout for the Astros.

Dude could really break down players.

Baseball just happened to be his thing, but he knew football as well.

Well what was Kiper? I really don't know. I still keep going back to teams drafting terrible QBs. Don't teams have scouts? How do you draft Tim Tebow and Johnny Manzeil in the first round? How is that possible? Same could be said about Justin Fields and Trey Lance. Now some dopey team will draft Willis. Based on what? What you can get away with in college is entirely different than the NFL. How can NFL teams not see this?

Kiper was a nerd living in his parents basement, watching video tape...

That said, beating him up over missing is a bit unfair.

I wouldn't trust him on QBs, for sure.

He's a goofball and a nerd but the draft would not be the same without him. I liked Gruden too because they both had the same trait. When their pet cat didn't get taken where they predicted, they'd lose their minds.

And let's admit it, most of the draft is boring and wasted time watching people on phones. Hell, I can go and watch a bunch of telemarketers live a mile from my house.

Didn't Gruden have the brilliant idea of drafting a kicker in the 1st round?

He's got rings, though.

Gruden and Kiper aren't even in the same sentence.

Crazy Al drafted Janikowski and Ray Guy in the 1st rounds.
