This loss reminds me a bit of 1991...lot of promise coming into road divisional round against Lions...hot team down the stretch with Berlein (sp?) leading us to consecutive wins to get in as wildcard (think we won like 5 or 6 straight coming into that game)...lot of folks calling us a scary team that nobody wanted to play ONLY to get pasted by Barry and that spread offense in a dome where we looked out of it early...of course we know what happened after that...I think in the end we'll look back at this loss as a watershed moment for us to move on and grow from...fingers crossed. Too rose colored view...what say you?

That team was very young.

This team has most of its players in their prime ... and the offensive line is past its prime.

Plus, that was a dynamic, energetic young coaching staff that was hungry and wasn't willing to settle for a playoff win.

This is a team where most of its best players are either in or past their primes. That was a team where most of its best players were still early in their careers.

No comparison whatsoever, other than Dallas lost a playoff game badly.

If this is like 1991, then the Favres are going to get their ***** kicked in N.O. next week because that's what happened to the Lions at Washington.

The only comparison I can see if after that 91 loss I thought JJ said they needed a serious upgrade in DB and went and drafted that to shore it up.

In this loss hopefully we can identify a need in OLine and go get it with the draft.

That loss was a disappointment...but I felt great knowing how much that team accomplished...and I was optimistic about the next season.

I also believe that most teams have to learn how to win...and often, you do that in tough losses. I think that loss really was a great learning experience for a very young team.

This team has had more lessons than it needs from big losses. They're clearly not learning from the lessons.

Big difference between 1991 and today.

Sorry dreamers, this is not 1991, they may come back and win it all next year, but this is nothing like 1991.

This one was kinda like that game. We win our wildcard round and then lose to Detroit 38-6 in the divisional game. We can only hope this team follows that track and wins it all next year. :star: :star:

While some may say that the 91 team as youn and had a different coaching staff, etc... that doesn't mean this team can't make a run next year.

Romo 30
Felix 23
Austin 25
Witten 28
Ware 28
Ratliff 28
Jenkins 25
Spencer 26
Ogletree 23
Spears 27
Olshansky 27
James 29
Scandrick 23

We are old on the Oline except for Free. We need to start to rebuild it. Crayton, Newman and Brooking are old.

This team will be good again next year. Start rebuilding the Oline , draft OL, WR CB/s and ILB in draft.

Huge difference.

Jimmy immediately identified the weakness of that team as the secondary and immediately after the game told the press he would fix it.

Next year we draft DBs and fixed the weakness.

That was a young budding dynasty, this team is a middle of the road also ran.

wow......chief and doubletrouble are right on here. Apples and Oranges in trying to compare this to 1991 and 1992. As they said: MUCH younger team then. Wow, some of you guys need to sober UP.

Rampage: the older, wiser fans on here absolutely understand. The younger, more whimsical ones..........don't. It's not even in the same zip code as 1991. BAD analogy..........

i'm 23 and I understand. I think people forget that the 90s Cowboy dynasty was one of the greatest teams of all time. this team is no where near that team and it makes me sick when people try to compare this current squad to that of a dynasty.

Yet the converse is not necessarily true as is implied in some responses.

Because this isn't exactly like 1991 does not mean we won't make a run in 2010.

This team has lots of young talent and will have an offseason to upgrade and develop it's already exisiting talent.

Cutting to the chase: this defense and secondary can be tweaked to get better in one year: super bowl qualilty? Maybe so. The oline however: It's old , slow and unathletic: don't see much hope there quite frankly........sad to say, but it's true.

It's what the draft is for.

I also hope Colombo wasn't 100% because he was brutal today.

Another offseason and Doug Free should be even better.

Hmmm let's see... Romo is 29, will be 30 in April. Felix Jones is only like 23. Mike Jenkins is 23, D-Ware is 26/27, Ratliff is 26. Miles Austin is 25, Roy Williams is 26. Bennett is 22/23, Witten is 27. Olgetree is 23. Yeah they're old...

the comparison to the 91 Lions game did pop into my head in the 4th quarter, but it was a fleeting thought. that team had Jimmy J...we have Wade P. not blaming today's loss on Wade, but he couldn't hold JJ's clipboard on his best day. Aikman was pretty much going into a new gear that would shift into overdrive early on in 92, Romo is still way too nervous in the pocket and seemed to again be careless with the ball. I still believe Romo has more upside than down, but like everyone else is saying, we need help on the O-line for sure.....
