Merling tears achilles out for season

One source tells the Miami Herald that the Dolphins "may" be interested in Cowboys DE Marcus Spears now that they've lost defensive linemen Phillip Merling and Jason Ferguson.

Team president Bill Parcells and GM Jeff Ireland are very familiar with Spears, having been with the Cowboys when he was a first-round pick back in 2005. Dallas offered Spears a lower tender offer than both of his backups, and he was arguably outplayed by both as well. He was reported to be on the trading block prior to the draft.

im not saying trade spears, i want to keep him so our defense is solid,

just mentioning what if dolphins come acalling for spears now?

its always better for you when a team wants to trade for a player you have, not you call them,

im greedy, i want a 2nd and 4th,

why, dolphins generally do good winning games wise, and are expected to make playoffs again, so their draft pick would be low as far as picking round wise in draft

so, i want a 2nd and 4th, make parcells bleed to get spears

Spears is a two down linemen, he brings nothing in regards to a pass rush. You know what the cowboys think of Spears when they tendered Bowens and hatcher higher than Spears this year, and Spears is playing his last season in a cowboy uniform, if a trade is going to happen, I'd bet Spears is the one going, not Hatcher.

Wow thats a blow to that defense. Injuries are such a major unknown when trying to forecast a season. I just hope......i wont even say it. But yeah, injuries suck.

now thats a pretty good deal, i would go for that; but at same time, i would see if i could get parcells and jeff ireland to bleed alittle more for compensation picks for spears,

I notice that he played the right end, not the left like Spears. Probably not a big deal, but still.

They may just play Odrick there.

Still, I've said all offseason I can see Hatcher being our starting LDE at some point this year...

That's probably true. But for a team with Superbowl aspirations, there's no point giving up on a solid starter unless they make it worth our while. Miami needs him more than we need to get rid of him.
