now thats a pretty good deal, i would go for that; but at same time, i would see if i could get parcells and jeff ireland to bleed alittle more for compensation picks for spears,
How cool would an extra #1 be! :) From Miami it'd probably be middle of the first round and I read somewhere that next years draft is supposed to be loaded with offensive linemen.

That's probably true. But for a team with Superbowl aspirations, there's no point giving up on a solid starter unless they make it worth our while. Miami needs him more than we need to get rid of him.

:hammer: Exactly, and make Parcells & Jeff Ireland bleed alittle if they want spears bad enough. I am stick ticked off alittle for getting nothing for Parcells when he went to the dolphins. And parcells took jeff ireland along with him, and a few of our coaches, etc...

Make parcells bleed if he wants spears bad enough!

What are you smokin! You're not getting a first rounder for Spears and Crayton, maybe a fourth at best..

At this point in the year you get much more value for players.

I'm tired of dealing with parcells and ireland. We better get at least a 2 for spears. If we cant get that we need to hold on to him.

There's almost no one on their roster that I would want other than Long, and they won't move him. Send Spears and Crayton for a 1st.
Straight up for Long or Spears + Crayton for a first?

I'm happy with either one but my preface is Long straight up. Spears is going to lose snaps this season and Crayton could be our #3 a year from now.

actually you don't. there's 31 teams that have access of veterans, a player on a one year deal, or contracts that are back loaded, that teams will give up for a low draft pick if they feel the player isn't worth the money or his playing time will be cut.

I would trade them Hatcher.... Spears is very underrated.

I'm in agreement. Until one of the backups proves he can be just as good against the run (and they should be given the chance this preseason), I don't want Spears going anywhere.

Our top line was very solid against the run last year, why break that up unless someone outplays him? And Hatcher certainly hasn't.

Didn't they give up their 2 this year AND next for Brandon Marshall? No way they give up their 1st next year and be left without a 1st and a 2nd --- we might do it for a 3rd or even a 4th if we think Olshansky, Bowen, Hatcher and Dixon as a group would work.

That is a good point. Jason Hatcher isn't as good against the run as Marcus Spears. In fact, he may be a liability against the run. Plus, Spears is in a contract year, and he might have a chip on his shoulder after that low tender the Cowboys gave him.

We're not talking about requiring scrubs.

A quality player, like Spears, will hold much more value after the draft than before it.

Spears is a two down player on a one year deal, a team isn't going to give you much for a player on a one year deal heading for free agency, it's that simple, period!

It's not that simple. If Miami gets him they will give him a long term deal.

Dallas isn't going to give him away at this point in the year.

it is that simple, Dallas isn't going to give him a long term contract, why would Miami....they wouldn't. Spears is a two down linemen, you don't give long term deals to those type of players....I think you play too much fantasy football

Miami and Parcells want Spears as much as they wanted Bobby Carpenter.

Doesn't Miami run the 3-4 defense? If so, Spears ain't going there. He's a 4-3 lineman stuck in a 3-4 team.

Spears is a one-year player in Dallas...he's gone in free agency after this season anyway. We might as well get something for him, but we're in no rush. Of course, Miami may not be in a rush either if they think they drafted a guy who can start there.

I highly doubt this anything but speculation. They drafted Odrick and Spears was a borderline bust under Parcells who badmouthed big Bill after he left by blaming him for his poor play. I suppose they could inquire about him but I doubt they will be willing to give anything of value for him.

thats what i say, wait alittle, be sure we dont need spears, we havent even started playing yet, so we dont know if we ourselves might have injuries (God forbid any serious injuries with us) ourselves with the dalals players.

so wait, and if things work out, then make miami have to give something really good to get spears

If we could get Jake Long, I would send them Columbo, Spears, and Crayton and move Free to RT so fast his head would spin.

That said, we can't get Jake Long.

:starspin Good point about him being gone after this year, although I wouldn't get in a hurry to trade him just yet though.
