If we could get Jake Long, I would send them Columbo, Spears, and Crayton and move Free to RT so fast his head would spin.

That said, we can't get Jake Long.

Indeed, Long is a top 3 lineman. Teams spend generations trying to find lineman of his caliber.

i understand what your saying about jake long, but to much to give up for long, columbo, spears and crayton,

i would give up spears and crayton, but no more, not columbo too

now i would if i give up spears, columbo and crayton, i would want a draft pick in return, say a 3rd

of course im biased when it comes to our dallas cowboy players, but hey, thats who i am

this just in from pft;; hostile are you hearing anything about spears to miami?

With Phillip Merling out for the year, Fins could go after Marcus Spears
Posted by Mike Florio on July 22, 2010 10:41 PM ET
We reported earlier today that Dolphins defensive end Phillip Merling has an Achilles' tendon injury. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Merling will miss the entire season due to the injury.

Jackson also reports that the injury was suffered during football-related activities, which means that Merling will receive the full amount of his $600,000 base salary, if/when he lands on injured reserve.

Of course, that amount could be reduced if/when Merling is suspended by the league for violating the Personal Conduct Policy. He faces felony charges after allegedly beating up his pregnant girlfriend.

Salguero also reports that the Dolphins may eventually make a play for Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears. Selected by Dolphins V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells in the first round of the 2005 draft while Parcells was working as head coach of the Cowboys, Spears could be on the outs in Dallas. Which could put him on the ins in Miami.

Spears, Colombo, and Crayton would be worth it for Jake Long.

Our trade offer would get rejected.

I would even contemplate giving them a 2nd plus all of that for Jake long. Maybe even our 2011 1st instead of the 2nd too.

I wonder if Dallas would have an interest in any of the Dolphin DB's in a player for player trade. Personally, I don't mind Alan Ball as our starting FS. But not sure I'm real comfortable with him as both the starting FS and 4th CB.

I dont think miami would take 2 #1s for Jake Long. So enough with the spears and blah and trash, and left overs, and wana-bees.

Miami did already give up their #2 so that is out of the equation.

no way they give up a 1rst or 2nd for Spears when they already have Kendall Langford and Jared Odrick.

There's almost no one on their roster that I would want other than Long, and they won't move him. Send Spears and Crayton for a 1st.

Literally rofl at the people who think we could bring Jake ****ing Long into the conversation. The only way we get Jake is if we send Miles with Marcus. He's going to be an all-pro LT for the next 12 years.

Are you kidding?

A top 10 WR and a nice DE for one of the most valuable players in the league?

If any Dolphins fans are reading this please dont kick us in the nuts

Honestly, this seems like its just a writer connecting dots.

I dont think anyone can argue with what the parcells/ireland/gaine combo did to revamp our Dline and the one in miami.

I would imagine they will use the same devices they used here and there so far to find guys up front. Its a little harder right now than it has been in the past because of the amount of teams playing the 3-4, but I would be willing to bet they find something.

that group went out and found kenyon coleman off a practice squad and he was key player for us.

At the end of camp it will be interesting to see what happens with our line. I really cant imagine us moving spears anymore at this point unless someone comes from nowhwere to show they can be a backup allowing hatcher to start. I dont see that right now though.

I say get their first and give them our second rounder and maybe have them throw in a fifth rounder.

You would? Wow. You're really willing to give up a decent end, leftover reciever, and a good lineman for a future hall of famer AND a third round pick?how generous.

so when did Parcells start loving Spears?

Since Spears complained about playing in Parcells' version of the 3-4 and lauded the opportunity to make plays in Phillips' version. Made him an FOB.
