I'm hoping everything Dan Mullen said is true -- taking it with a grain of salt, though. The proof will surely come in the pudding, if so!

Dan Mullen is a jerk and clearly biased, but...

It has to be trolling that football people here are saying they don't know who he is.
I haven't said it, but I'll say it now, I've never heard of him. I'm not kidding or trolling.

This isn't hard.......... Dak's former college head coach

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Mullen

Mississippi State started the 2013 season against number 13 Oklahoma State, losing, 21–3. They defeated Alcorn State, but lost to Auburn, 24–20. They defeated Troy, Kentucky, and Bowling Green, and lost to LSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Alabama, to drop to 4–6, traveling to Little Rock, Arkansas, to battle Arkansas. MSU won, 24–17, in overtime, and was 5–6 entering the Ole Miss game. MSU missed a game-winning field goal to send the game into overtime, and Dak Prescott got a 3-yard touchdown run on 4th and 2, giving Ole Miss the ball up 17–10. Bo Wallace fumbled in the end zone, giving MSU the 17–10 victory, and for the first time in school history, a fourth straight bowl berth. MSU defeated Rice, 44–7, in the Liberty Bowl to finish 7–6.[17]

In 2014, Mullen led the Bulldogs to one of the greatest seasons in school history. He claimed his first Top 10 win at Mississippi State, as the Bulldogs knocked off #8 LSU, 34–29, at Death Valley, allowing them to enter the polls at #12. He followed that up by beating #6 Texas A&M, 48–31, in Starkville, vaulting them to third in the nation. A week later, they beat #2 Auburn, 38–23, which propelled them to the top spot in both major polls (as well as the inaugural College Football Playoff Top 25) —the highest ranking in Mississippi State's history, and the highest that any FBS team in Mississippi had been ranked at that late date in almost half a century. Losses to Alabama and Mississippi ended any hope of a national championship. The Bulldogs finished 10–2 – only the third 10-win season in school [18] history. This netted them an appearance in the Orange Bowl, where they lost to Georgia Tech, 49–34, the third major bowl appearance in school history, after the 1937 Orange Bowl and the 1941 Orange Bowl.

I met my wife in the hall this morning and she said Dak throws it to the other people too much. I support Dak and hope he has a monster year. I just hope he hasn't hit his head on the celling.

Funny thing about this whole thread is. The people who claim to “know football” don’t know who Dan Mullen is but expect us to take their comments and thoughts as though they are well versed and football smart! It’s laughable
Weird take. You think knowing football, or being football smart, requires one to know a reasonably obscure college coach? Does knowing music require one to be up to speed on all the hottest Indie bands too?

Funny thing is you're the second guy in this thread who expressed this illogical view. You both need to dial back the snark and think this through some more.

Lol. Obscure? Mullen is about as well known in football circles as Nick Saban. Nice try. And no I’m not saying they are the same. Just that if you ask people in football circles who Mullen is. 8 out of 10 will.

This is a football forum. Guess I just expect the people preaching about much better they are at football knowledge would know who the guy was. Maybe you need to dial it back and look at the guys telling people on here they know nothing about football constantly because we disagree on a view or player. Only to then not know who Mullen is.

Prescott's high school coach would tell you the same thing.

Say what you will about the man but I do not believe I have ever seen a player unable to outright win the starting QB job in high school, college and the NFL but once in it, refuse to give it up when the original starter is ready to start again. Have any of you seen anything like that? It's like some crazy twist of fate but it has happened to this guy at all three levels.

That ain't normal so when I look at him, I do not think he's like other players I've watched over the years.

I see the warts and the excuse making for the picks is amusing, you can make that case for every QB that ever threw one.

And as far as the money he's making? Do you think 40M QB's are supposed to play it safe? How many have you seen once they get the big bucks, they think they have to win it all by themselves? You can start with that in Buffalo because that new deal gave Allen Superman Complex and he will not receive half the spotlight Prescott gets because of the team he plays for and Bills fans love their players more than any fans. That's why a lot of them retire there. You ever think about retiring in Buffalo, NY? Me neither.

Ya know what's not fair? How in the hell can the QB go from exalted to exhumed in one week of the playoffs? Do we just ignore the performance the week before and label him with his last game?

If posters would stop looking for evidence of an established belief and open their minds, they would enjoy this a lot more. He is a very intriguing player, maybe the most in the league,

Aren't you intrigued by how this is all being set up for this season? QB under fire for leading the league in picks and he is more than aware he is under fire. So, they let his buddy OC walk and he now gets a play caller that called for Favre and Rodgers and they let his buddy RB walk as well.

However, consider this about this guy. This guy is that guy I am talking about in that second paragraph so I do not underestimate what he is capable of doing.
