Meyer going to NFL? Believe it, numbskulls

The thing that's probably holding Meyer back from coaching in the NFL is the economy. He's going to want huge $$$$ because if he wants a raise from his huge current contract from U. of Florida, he'll get it. That's a lot of money being given to a guy who has never coached in the NFL. I could see it happening if the economy was in pretty good shape, but with the problems we've had in the economy owners are much more guarded with their money...even Snyder and Jones. So they are more likely to give that money to somebody more proven.

YAKUZA

Myer is good friends with Belichik so I don't doubt there are people in the NFL who think he can do it.

Also, he has a huge ego so I could see him wanting to prove he can coach in the NFL.

Interesting tidbit about Myer... I recall Alabama playing Cincinnati in the mid- 80's and the Bama radio announcer was talking about a player on the Bearcats team who his coach was very high on. The Bearcats coach said the player was like a coach on the field and was going to be a great coach one day. The player was Urban Myer.

Wow. Where to start with this one.

You can start by helping me clean up my rather soiled drawers. :laugh2:

I would seriously crap my pants. I'd be overjoyed if we landed Myers. This dude just knows how to win. He isn't like Pete Carroll or Saban who both failed in the pros, only to go licking their wounds and head back to the college ranks to save face.

This guy just wins, and has done so with two different programs. Urban would be a great fit for the Cowboys. I just hope Jerry sees this as well.

Theogt just owned Freeman.

What's weird about this article is that he acts like he knows something. But in all likelihood merely the same old game of connecting the candidate to the highest-profile team in the league. Yawn.

theogt only showed us Freeman owning himself.

The guys articles read like bad chatroom posts. He'll be out of work--or will land a job working for a Dallas paper--by next season.

I don't see it. You have the best program in the country right now, why take a step back?

As a gator fan I can tell you he isn't going anywhere. Freeman is just a Meyer hater. The guy never has anything positive to say about him. Were on top of the world Freeman, deal with it!

And it's about to come crashing down. The Tide's defense will man-handle Tebow and the Gators in the SEC title game. Then the Texas Longhorns will have to beat up on the Tide in the BCS Championship game.

You know, it's a shame your Gators won't be able to face Colt McCoy and the Longhorns. It could have been a really good game. :p:

I think there is guys in College that could work but the guys who are being brought up are guys that dont translate to the NFL systematically.

Urban Meyer is a guy who doesn't fit systematically.

Someone like Les Miles would probably be a terrific NFL Head Coach.

Agreed.

Or the ultimate college coach who would kill it in the pros, Kirk Ferentz.

I'm glad that it's not happening anytime soon.

According to his bio he actually worked at the DMN at one point. Which only makes sense.

lol! *sigh.*

I think Urban Meyer is a terrific Head Coach and I believe he would be successful in the NFL. But I don't think it will ever happen in Dallas. He has a great job now and the challenges are always there in the SEC. Add that to the fact that Jerry will never hire a college coach again and this is a trumped up article with no real connection with reality.

Meyer would have to make just two significant changes after joining the NFL. He would have to retool his offense because what he runs now would get shredded to pieces in the NFL and get his quarterbacks decapitated.

LMAO !!!

hope not, as a gator fan I have enjoyed the success he has brought to the program

You mean the same Crimson tide defense that lost to the gators last season by double digits without Percy Harvin. Greg McCelroy sucks. He's been hidden by Ingram, but one the gators shut him down and put the game in McCelroy's hands that will be it. You couldn't beat us last season with a seasoned Qb on John Parker wilson. McCelroy is just a notch above johnathan crompton who maybe the worst QB in the SEC. Mcelroy will be exposed for all the world to see next Saturday. Go Gators!!!!

well this is the worst thing I have read since the last time this guy got an article posted here.

Jerry is not hiring any college coaches, even if myer is belichick's buddy.

You must either be a gator fan, or a gator hater, nevertheless Meyer is not going to the NFL

Anyone that is supposed to be a professional journalist that has to call me, the reader, a "numbskull" in his title, is probably not worthy of my eyeballs or critical thought.

Therefore, I stopped reading at "numbskulls."
