I don't think one person can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that they speak with proper grammar at all times. I know I don't.
Speaking strictly for myself, I do try to convey the fact I've received a quality education, both in my writing, and in conversations...
But whether they do or don't shouldn't be indicative of the university they attended. Last I heard the University of Miami has thousands of students enrolled. It's hard for me to believe that all those students somehow leave school not being able to speak correctly.
I agree that it's silly to stereotype an entire University for the actions or words of a few football players... in my case, the comments I made were aimed at the school's football players, not their student body in general...
And yes, I recognize that even then, I'm painting with a broad brush, but there ARE a lot of players from the U who clearly never cracked a book... of course, there are other schools out there for whom that is also true, but we were talking about this school in this thread...
Personally, I like ol' Clinton, I found his dressing up in outrageous costumes to give interviews to be highly comical... I also think he's a decent human being, at least I've never seen him engage in any kind of antisocial behavior... but there's no doubting that when you hear him speak in public, it's hard to believe this guy ever even attended a college, let alone graduated from one...
Sean Taylor doesn't come off as the brightest bulb in the chandelier, either... now, lest you think this is just some anti-Miami bias I'm indulging in, I'm also quite embarrassed every time I hear Vince Young give an interview, and of course I'm a raging Horns fan... but I sure do hope Vince never has to fall back on his education to make a living...
