Santana Moss: "It's good to get away. I go home and I not try to see nothing about football."

speaking on the new 'voluntary' offseason training program of the Skins

btw, guess who was the vocal leader on making them voluntary?

Phillip Daniels, one of the worst starting DEs...ever

It's very convienent for me that most of the annoying, thuggish pieces of crap that come out of "the U" go to the Commanders. Moss, Ports, Taylor, McIntosh... all a bunch of trash. I enjoy watch the Commanders flounder why they hand their hopes on these guys who are more interested in strutting during timeouts than in playing with any sort of professionalism or dedication needed to win. And Shockey went to the Giants, so that's good, too.

Know why they call it "the U"? Because all their players are too illiterate to know how to spell and too ignorant to be able to pronounce the full word "University."

Though there are some idiots that come through the U, they're not all idiots and they shouldn't be grouped as such. I've yet to hear any issues with McIntosh and although Portis can be a bit loopy, he's not going around beating up women or shooting people.

Besides, didn't we draft Quincy Carter?

Damn dude, all that from this single quote: "It's good to get away. I go home and I not try to see nothing about football"???

What's thuggish, annoying or trashy about that?

These guys are trash and can't speak English very well.......but they could buy and sell you and everything you hold dear to your heart.

Think that one over for awhile, muchacho.

This is probably the most rediculous post I have ever read on any internet forum.

I have 50 million dollars. You are saying that I am better than you and your family because I have more money? Seriously?

So, the more money you have, the better person you are??

Interesting logic...

You and Silverbear totally missed the point, like you both often do.

Just because a person doesn't speak the "King's English" doesn't mean they are trash and it doesn't mean they are speaking trash. If a person speaks Spanish does that make him or her trash?

These Miami guys probably spell "ridiculous" the same way you do and it hasn't stopped them from being successful. In fact, there are alot of people out there who may not be considered intellectual heavyweights, but have turned a talent into millions of dollars.

Are there rich people who could be considered trash? Of course. Does a guy's improper use of an adverb make him trash? Of course not.

So I guess it's not possible for this to be a typo by the writer? Considering I'm a writer, I know it can happen...even with an editor.

I understand how some guys in the NFL don't properly convey their message, but in no way do I believe he made a statement that came out that way.

And then for you to airbrush everyone from that university with the same pen, kinda makes you come across as ignorant as someone saying everyone with the username starting with Bob are trolls.

Generalizations suck.

When did I say he was "trash" because of that?? The ONLY thing I contributed to this dialogue was a laugh at the "they can buy and sell you" remark, as if that indicated character or something...

No sir, the only thing I think when I read a COLLEGE STUDENT'S words, and his English is absolutely abysmal, is that a) the guy isn't real bright, and b) he didn't exactly earn any of the grades he got while he attended class (if he ever actually attended class)...

However, at no point have I suggested that being less than intelligent makes you "trash"... it just makes you less than intelligent... nope, YOU were the one who seemed to be insinuating that having money means you have superior character, and of course that's completely asinine...

I have good friends who are good people, and most all of 'em are relentlessly middle class... I also know some rich folk that I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire (but I also know at least one rich guy who's as fine a man as you'll ever hope to meet)...

Perhaps, but I also recall Clinton Portis last offseason, quoting a conversation he had with Sean Taylor about the OTA's that Taylor was missing, saying "man, we ain't did nothing"...

I found that a rather surprising usage of the English language, coming as it did from a man who supposedly had a college education... indeed, I have seen enough interviews from players who attended the U, who came off as if they'd never seen the inside of a class, to become convinced that university doesn't particularly care if its football players get any kind of an education or not...

To me, this is an indictment of the school, not the players...

I don't think one person can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that they speak with proper grammar at all times. I know I don't.

But whether they do or don't shouldn't be indicative of the university they attended. Last I heard the University of Miami has thousands of students enrolled. It's hard for me to believe that all those students somehow leave school not being able to speak correctly.

Speaking strictly for myself, I do try to convey the fact I've received a quality education, both in my writing, and in conversations...

But whether they do or don't shouldn't be indicative of the university they attended. Last I heard the University of Miami has thousands of students enrolled. It's hard for me to believe that all those students somehow leave school not being able to speak correctly.

I agree that it's silly to stereotype an entire University for the actions or words of a few football players... in my case, the comments I made were aimed at the school's football players, not their student body in general...

And yes, I recognize that even then, I'm painting with a broad brush, but there ARE a lot of players from the U who clearly never cracked a book... of course, there are other schools out there for whom that is also true, but we were talking about this school in this thread...

Personally, I like ol' Clinton, I found his dressing up in outrageous costumes to give interviews to be highly comical... I also think he's a decent human being, at least I've never seen him engage in any kind of antisocial behavior... but there's no doubting that when you hear him speak in public, it's hard to believe this guy ever even attended a college, let alone graduated from one...

Sean Taylor doesn't come off as the brightest bulb in the chandelier, either... now, lest you think this is just some anti-Miami bias I'm indulging in, I'm also quite embarrassed every time I hear Vince Young give an interview, and of course I'm a raging Horns fan... but I sure do hope Vince never has to fall back on his education to make a living... :D

As idiotic as it is to make generalizations about people or groups, I am sure Mr. Sacamano was just stirring the pot to annoy Commanders fans. I am pretty sure he was only joking.
