A bit off topic, but if you want to talk about record setting pass rushers, Cowboys DE Harvey Martin in 1977 deserves mention.

Sacks were not official, but he had 23 in 14 games, AND in an era offenses ran more than threw. If Martin played a 17 game season back then he might have come close to 30 sacks. Let that sink in.
Not in 2023 he wouldn’t. The average offensive lineman in the 70’s was 6’3” 255 pounds.

I’m not sure either is a fair comparison. Micah lines up at different positions. He’s not a straight up linebacker. I’ve never seen someone disrupt every play like he does. Other guys are piling up sacks because of his presence. He might not end up with the shiniest stats because it usually takes at least 2 guys to stop him.
The modern term of EDGE basically developed from LT first then DT too. I guess you can say Reggie White but he wouldn't play off the line as much as those two guys would.

I’ve had the Derrick Thomas comp from the get go. Micah looks very similar to that legend.

Was watching the game at Gillete stadium, friends are pats fans...

one older gentleman says this " this parsons kid teminds me so much of the late Derek Thomas" .... I yell out " new LT"

old guy says " he might well become a LT if he keeps this up, just quite not there yet , but being compared to Derek Thomas so early is no knock at all! ""

So for those of you who saw DT play, do you agree? I will you tube some of his highlights.
Micah is infinitely better than Derrick Thomas.

He was next to a guy that was 6-8 280 lbs on the DLine most of his career too.

I see a big difference from the top 70s and 80s pass rushers like Martin, Selmon etc and even in the 90s like Bruce Smith and Reggie White, and what LT, Haley, and DT were. They were more LBs that pass rushed from different angles.

Ok just watched the whole 1st quarter of giants defense of week 5 1984 season. Just picked a random game.
Holy freaking crap !!!! If micah is compared to this monster Lt. Just being mentioned in the same sentence I will take it !!!
This bad *** has literally been in every damn running and passing play except for 2. Freaking incredible monster. Screw sacks, this guy has triple teams on him. Wow. Strong and fast. Smart as all he'll too. Reads plays perfectly. Maybe that is the only difference, micah will do that with .ore time.
This LT. Dude reads a play like nothing I've watched.
Parcells HC & Belichick Linebackers.

Derrick Thomas had one game where he had like 11 sacks and probably about 10 more pass rushes and the team lost. Probably the most dominant defensive performance game I can ever remember by one player. He was one of the best ever.

DT was never THIS good. Micah = LT
Obviously you must have never saw DT play. Same draft as Aikman, Barry, Deion. Think he went 4th or 5th, don't feel like looking it up. But DT was one of the best.

I just hope MP can have a 7 sack game like DT. It might have been 6 but think Thomas had 7 sacks one game.

I think as a pure edge rusher coming off the right, Thomas was better. But Parsons is lining up all over the field now and is a more complete player IMO. Then of course, Micah has to do it for another 7 years to even be in the conversation with DT and LT.

That was one game, and he didn't play like that often. I think it was 7 sacks.

He was nowhere near LT, but Micah is.

Derrick was more like LT. Micah is not Derrick or LT but dang close. Derrick was that dude day in day out. Micah is Micah, a unique player in his own category. He can play ANYWHERE u line him up at defensively. His versatility is what makes him incomparable/fierce.

what? Derrick, at the time, was closest thing to LT there was. The guy was a beast every week. Micah isnt LT. Micah needs his own category really. He is generational as far as impact and versatility. Micah is LT when he's flying off the edge. Thats true.

DT was great but was mainly a pure pass rusher, Micah is one of a kind.
