I agree. I don’t think he will want to sign a second contract with Dallas, but my reasoning is that he knows his body is not designed for a long shelf life as a 4-3 DE. He knew that this off-season as he tried to add muscle weight to hold up better in the run game….fail. Unless he’s a “love being a Cowboy; Cowboys for life” guy, he will want to go to a 3-4 defense and truly become the next LT. The problem is we will never get 2 #1 picks for a defensive player. Plus, Jerry will think he can sign him up and through his final year and be surprised that he goes somewhere else. I really don’t think it will be about winning; there’s no sure thing on winning. It will be about his career.
Parsons lasted in the draft because he was a LB in college, not a full time edge rusher. He played LB and blitzed from time to time. We drafted him as a LB, and that’s how we were using him in year 1 until we saw just what he could be as an edge rusher, but his career would be better served as a 3-4 OLB.
