I was begging them to draft TJ Watt in that draft but we took Taco Charlton instead.

Imagine having D-Law, TJ Watt, Gregory and Parsons now.

There’s no way we could have this line up. If we had drafted Watt in 2017 it’s safe to assume he would have been a difference maker enough in 2020, that we wouldn’t have gone 6-10, most likely would have won our division. With a better record we wouldn’t have had the #10 pick and would have missed on parsons.

Well. We drafted him at 12. Who is to say we couldn't have gotten in range?

Oh man, I had no idea Watt had that many sacks. Oh well. Micah will have to wait.

People keep blaming Marinelli and I'm sure he wanted him but the draft video of that pick shows Jerry telling Taco how badly Jason Garrett campaigned for him.

I will always attach Garrett to Taco.

McClay liked Taco as well because of his length. I could see Quinn thinking the same thing actually.

Here's the video of the Taco pick. This is the only time I can remember Jerry telling a player that the head coach was really pushing for him.

I imagine Garrett having some stupid measure which made him pine over Taco like “he was very polite and called me sir during my interview…he’s the kinda guy you want on your football team.”

TJ Watt has 45 solo tackles on the season. 21.5 sacks. Nearly half of his solo tackles are sacks. He's had 11 missed tackles (15.7%). He's only been targeted 4x in coverage all season. He is a one trick pony, albeit a very very good one trick pony.

Micah has 64 solo tackles, only missed 9 on the year (9/7%), with 13 sacks, and has been excellent in coverage. He is a do it all kind of player vs Watt who is more of a specialist.

Watt will win DPOY based on sack numbers and name recognition this year. But Micah will win multiple DPOY's in his career. He is the better all around player.

Well you hear him tell Taco this isn't just about the player you are but the person you are too.

He must have been the right kind of guy. Who am I to argue?

Lol, better in all categories?

Yeah, everything but sacks, forced fumbles, QB hits, tackles-for-loss, passes defensed, fumble recoveries.

Watt also dropped into coverage the 2nd most of any edge defender.

All that and they are still the 22nd ranked defense in the NFL.

And why would we have to choose?

We possibly could have had both.
