Next Man Up!!!

I love the Parsons pick more every day. Corners generally go higher than linebackers because the physical skills required to do the bare minimum at the position are so much rarer for the former. But if you stumble a great linebacker, it transforms your defense in a way corners do not. Ray Lewis did more for his defenses than Deion did for his.

I agree with this overall, except for a transcendent corner like Revis. Revis single handedly shut down one side of the field.

The Cowboys drafted Parsons to make plays on the defensive end. I was looking at LVE and Jaylon’s stats the last two seasons. What caught my eye is the lack of big plays those two make. They have very few tackles behind the line of scrimmage, forced fumbles, interceptions, and sacks. Your linebackers have to make plays. Parsons job will be to cause havoc on the defensive end. With respect to Surtain and Horne, Parsons was the only prospect in this draft that could improve the Cowboys front seven. A front seven with Parsons, Tank, and Gregory could be devastating when it comes to making splash plays.

Hate to see Lee go… he was great to have around the team for many reasons. It’s too bad that they couldn’t have played together for at least one year so Micah could soak up a little knowledge from Lee.

It’ll be awesome to see Parsons rocking that #11 jersey. I’m looking so forward to watching him play.

Ray Lewis never shut down one side of the field like Primetime did consistently. I think you're wrong about Lewis doing more for his defenses than Deion, plus don't forget Deion contributed on offense and ST.

Love Lee. Gonna miss him. But Parsons has a much higher ceiling.

Lee was a film rat who maximized his physical gifts when he was able to keep his body on the field. Hopefully, Parsons won't have Lee's injury issues and will glean from Lee that studying can make him a better player. Some of these players with natural gifts like Parsons don't work as hard on the small stuff that can make them great. Hopefully, he will.

I think that was Lee’s gift though. His football IQ. Some guys can work as hard as they want but they will never see the things that Lee saw on the field. Not saying Parsons can’t because I don’t know anything about how he studies film just saying Lee was a football genius. Really hate his body failed him. He was so fun to watch.

um Parson is 3 down LB not rush specialist they will use him all over the defense ..dont get that twisted he was taken 12th overall because he has 3 down ability..

Now Jabril Cox is a hybrid LB/SS will be more of rush type or cover specialist..

Yep. If LVE is healthy, I see him and Parsons playing 3 downs while Smith is the rush specialist. But maybe I'm wrong. They didn't pick up LVE's option so maybe they view Smith as more long term.

You misunderstood what he was saying.

Smith is NO rush specialist. OUCH!!!

Smith is gone after this year. They would probably cut him this year if they could.

Parsons job is to cause havoc. The Cowboys drafted him to wreck offenses. One day he might develop into a 3 down linebacker but for this team this season, his job is to see ball get ball. Have you watched Jabril? He will be a nickel linebacker at the beginning. There is a reason he was a 4th round pick. Jabril is not good against the run.
