He had no choice but to pay Dak what he did because practically every QB that’s being extended is resetting the market. You have no chance to win without a viable QB which is why teams are paying them insane amounts of money. If we didn’t pay him $60 million per season someone else would’ve paid him more. It’s not that way with other positions. We didn’t pay CeeDee more than Jefferson. Parsons is going to want to be the highest paid defensive player in the league and he doesn’t deserve it. There’s several players on defense better than him such as TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Myles Garrett and Aidan Hutchison. Parsons has regressed. Teams have figured out how to neutralize him. He was unbelievable his first couple of seasons, but we rarely see eye popping plays from him anymore. The book on how to contain him is out. Even his first couple of seasons, he was tiring out the final month of the season and didn’t show up in the playoffs. This season he already looks tired.
He only had one sack in his first 4 games before he was injured. Jerry moved on from DeMarcus Ware because his sack numbers were coming down. He wanted him to take a pay cut but Ware refused. Jerry said on the radio Ware’s sack numbers didn’t warrant the money he was making. I think there’s a real chance the Joneses will look to trade Parsons if this season continues to go the way it has and his sack totals fall well below what he produced his first three seasons. He’s not going to be worth the money he’ll be asking for. He may not end up with 5-6 sacks this season. Against New Orleans they showed him being taken out of plays by a tight end. He’s looked no better than average this season. If we end up paying him, we won’t be able to do anything in free agency again.
