Ware was the perfect example of why the Cowboys are what they are. Fantastic player. Unbelievable skills. Happy to sign a big fat contract and compile gaudy regular season stats. Was he a killer? Nope. Was he obsessed with winning? Nope. Would he hold the rest of the team accountable? Nope. Do I have a single meaningful memory of him? Not really. I remember him coming up big once against the Saints. Other than that he had forgettable sack after forgettable sack. For the last few years he was here all I can picture is a guy getting easily run upfield with no thought to anything but a sack on a 5 step drop.
Yet, he left here and got a ring. At some point you guys are going to realize what the issue is and it’s not the players fully.

First 3 years ware had 33 sacks. Micah has 40 his 1st three and part of that was playing at middle backer.

Parsons pass rush metrics are off the charts.
Parsons is great for a beginner, better than Ware out or his point no doubt… but Ware developed into a 19, 20 sack phenom. We can’t credit Micah for that until he gets there.

Hopefully Miach will mature some as he is still a very young man. D-Ware has to be the choice here.

i don't know. this board said the same things about him when he was here. people said he got sacks early in the game, not in the 4th quarter or on big drives. people were glad when he wasn't on the team. compared him to clay matthews like people compare micah to tj watt. conversation sounds the same, the times are different and memories make reflection different then when you are living through something.

i love both guys.
I guess I differ in that I see TJ Watt way more consistent than Micah....we saw Watt singlehandedly win at least 3 games with either strip sacks, forced fumbles for touchdowns ......and he did it late season and against great offenses.

Micah has been much more productive early in his career through three seasons and is still learning. 40.5 vs 33.5

Year 4 is when Ware went off with 20 sacks, and am hoping Micah can do something similar.

Both are generational players

This will be interesting to see how he does under Zimmer and a different scheme. If it is that much different. Other than using real LB's for once at LB.

i'm not making the argument for or against watt vs micah. i'm just saying it all reminds me of the ware vs matthews debates and how many bashed ware is what i see happening with micah right now.

D Ware......easy choice.

He didn't falter the 2nd half of seasons AND didn't shrink in the biggest games.
Ware also effectively played 2 positions for run and pass.

Micah could be like that and has the potential to be better at LB than Ware, but he's being played as an edge rush specialist and liability in the run game at DE.

We just always waste players.

If Zimmer splits Micah's time between LB and DE, he can make him MVP.

Ware gets the benefit of the doubt from me... Micah's done it for 3 years, Ware did it for 10.

He also did it in a more sustainable way as well. Ware had blinding pure speed, but he continued to build a toolbag of pass rush moves that was deep as any DE in the NFL. He was like a pitcher that had a 95 MPH fastball, a curveball, a sinker, and a changeup. He's the second fastest pro to ever reach 100 sacks, because he was just straight-up unblockable. Even when age and injuries mounted into his 30s, he was still a productive pass rusher in Denver. And Ware straight-up made Von Miller, Miller will be the first to tell you that. He's ended up following the same career trajectory as DeMarcus.

Parsons right now is winning more on athleticism. He has a big-time speed rush, and an unstoppable Euro-step back inside, but those are both dependent on raw lower-body burst. He's been unbelievably productive, but he will need healthy legs to continue doing it for as long as Ware did.

Ware got two sacks in a Super Bowl. That's not showing up?

Both are good players but the difference for me between the two is that Ware was a leader, Micah is not a leader

Ware didn’t shrink in the biggest moments for Denver you mean…
He had other great players around him in Denver. He only made one significant play in a huge game for us that stands out and that was against the 13-0 Saints in 2009. He strip sacked Drew Brees with the game in the line. Other than that he never made a lot of impact sacks for us in critical games. It’s been the same with Parsons who’s been a no show in the playoffs.

More like “great” players. However, Ware never took our defense to the next level. Our defense always faltered in the big games. It’s been the same with Parsons. Ware had a critical penalty against the Giants in the 07 playoffs that really hurt us early in that game. It led to the Giants first TD.

LOL you are a Broncos fan or something? He showed up alright as soon as he got to a team that had real men and real leaders in place. Baby couldn't get the job done in Dallas I am not gonna make excuses for him now that he is gone. If your all time greatest moments are with another team you are not an all time great Cowboy.
