"Trail Ridge Road in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park will remain closed over Memorial Day weekend due to challenging weather conditions.

Despite earlier progress, snowplow crews have faced setbacks caused by strong winds, which have led to low visibility, snow drifting back over cleared areas, and a thick layer of ice beneath the snow.

The road, which reaches elevations of about 12,180 feet, is the highest continuous paved road in North America and connects Estes Park and Grand Lake.

With snow and freezing temperatures forecast above 10,000 feet, park officials are urging visitors to stay updated on conditions and be prepared to adjust travel plans." - CBS Colorado

Premier Scott Moe accredited the start of “over 90 per cent of the fires” in Saskatchewan to be caused by “human activity.”

“If you take away the human activity that’s starting those fires, we would have a lot less fires in the province,” Moe said Sunday, further suggesting an increase in agricultural production, province and nationwide, would help prevent wildfires throughout the season.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford chimed in, suggesting forestry cleanup — including tree harvesting and dry brush removal — was imperative to mitigate the chance of widespread fires.
