Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons has recorded 2+ sacks in 28.6 percent of his career games, the highest of any player in #NFL    history, per @FrontOfficeNFL

The next closest is #Eagles HOF’er Reggie White with 21.6 percent.

Micah Parsons is on pace to be one of the greatest defenders of all-time.

First name I thought of when I read that stat was Reggie White. He turned in the best sack season I've ever seen from a lineman with 21 sacks in 12 games in 1987. He had 2+ sacks in 8 of those 12 games. Just dominant.

Yes, except against Erik Williams.
Myth. I actually ran the numbers on when they were both starting in a game against each other and White still registered a decent number of sacks. I'll see if I still have it. I'm thinking this narrative came from an excited John Madden in a single game and then fans have generalized that to their entire careers.

Here's one of them:

What's scary is he still learning how good can be........why he work so hard during the offseason ( conditioning, student of the game etc.). Love where he said he wanted to be not the best defensive player in the league but BEST PLAYER in the league.

Kind of misleading.

Reggie White's % was higher when he was younger. Age slowed him down.

But yeah, Micah is beyond incredible.
Also the league did not throw as much back then

Having said that Micah is the Man

LOL......guys I think it's safe to say we have a certified monster on here. He can wreck a team's momentum on any given play at any given time ......... 60 min

Parsons never fails to amaze me. This isn't the 60s or 70s, even the 80s, where a top end player stands out among the rest. Micah is doing this in a time where everyone is a good athlete. For example, Jim Brown was a man among mice. There are not a lot of mice in today's NFL. I also think this raptor in human form brings out the best in our other defenders. Unreal.

Absolutely. For a true out the gate comparison, Micah has played 35 games, registering 2+ sacks in 10/35 games (20.5 sacks total in those games) for his 28% rate. In White's first 35 games he registered 2+ sacks in 11/35 games but had 30.5 sacks in those 11 games for his 31% rate. White had 3 sacks in a game 3 times and had a pair of 4 sack games among those 11 games. Micah has yet to have a 3-sack game but he will. However, Reggie White was a monster his first 3-4 seasons and no one compares from what I've seen. Yet.

Vet Twitter blurbs always.

As someone said, sack opportunities (pass plays) have increased over the years.

Also, the rates of all those other guys includes the decline phase at the end of their careers.

None of that is to take away from how insanely great Micah has been. Here's praying he has the longevity of the all-time greats.

man he had 2 sacks in week 1, Im still a bit miffed
"when a runner is contacted by an opponent and touches the ground with any part of his body other than his hands or feet. "
Jones had his entire forearm fully on the ground wrist to elbow before he made a small lunge to go one more foot over the line of scrimmage. Micah should have 4.

Hopefully, he can register another 2 sack game on Sunday.

So glad other teams (including Dallas initially) passed on taking him top 10. He's a bad, bad man!

This 100%.........I actually think this is his biggest impact. His presence is now taking every defensive player's play to another level and we are seeing first hand.
