The reports are saying he is tearing it up. I think they evaluate the guys based upon practice. The exhibition games are more for young players to have a chance. Tolbert absolutely stunk a year ago, they need to see him against other competition.
Yeah brother, Tolbert was azz, azz last season.

Someone please tell me why he’s not being forced to show in pre-season why he deserves to start in game 1 without proving a thing on the field first…he was one of the worst starting WR’s in the league last season. ONLY with this organization does this entitlement nonsense happen…just upsetting.
Funny how this team hides behind the rules...this team is so soft when it comes to being prepared.

Go make a thread about why Brandon cooks didn't play either. He had about 100 yards more than Gallup. Keep whining and moaning womanix
Maybe we should just cut the guys who’ve proven in actual nfl games and go with the guys that made a couple catches against PS players in a pre season game lol

Umm, because no one else has shown they can hold down a starting role in the NFL aside for Lamb and Cooks? This isn't hard buddy.

Can we at least let the guy step on the field and play a game before we make judgment?! Two good preseason games and Tolbert is suddenly an All Pro. Season can’t start soon enough.

Cooks has skins in the wall....Gallup was MIA all of last year, and has something to prove before just being "penciled in" as a starter.

If you want to argue that Gallup did not deserve the contract he got ok. But the sheer fact he probably should have been pup'd for the first 8 games at minimum last year is the reason why he was MIA. Someone rushed him back whether its Jerry, or Mr. Gallup himself, or someone else we can argue that. Technically while he may be the #3 or #2A or #2B MM is not going to risk a "proven" vet in the PS where most Vets are hardly playing.

Gallup make steady progress his first 4 years in the league and then got hurt. He was a young 1000+ yd receiver before the injury and in the NFL that is worth the contract he got. He did not get WR1 money or close to it. He was not a flash in the pan 1 year wonder.

Injuries are an unfortunate part on the attrition league. Gallup has come back from his ACL in the usual time frame. He looks much better physically this year and is winning reps against the starting defense which is pretty good.

I don't even know why Cooks is part of the discussion. The one that he is competing for snaps with is Tolbert. If Tolbert outplays him then I can see the argument that we cannot pay a WR4 that much but that has not come to pass yet.

Fans think preseason games are actually important, LOL. Except for evaluating borderline newcomers few modern NFL coaches put much stock in these games. Coaches have seen Gallup do plenty this summer in practice and scrimmages.

I wouldn't worry about Gallup. He came back too soon last year and really wasn't the same player. We should find out soon enough in the regular season and if he struggles Tolbert is looking pretty sharp.
